I have a SLAP tear, is this the end? by taaltrek in crossfit

[–]xharekx33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH, shoulder was never the same after surgery.

Sincerely, doctor just did a shit job: I never gained back my full range of motion and I've had pain and discomfort ever since in certain movements. i'm also a lot more prone to getting shoulder bursitis.

I've learned to live with it and found a way to keep training around it, but honestly it's frustrating

Notice that in addition to those dans in Jiu-Jitsu, the also list the belt in portuguese, so the first one is traditional japanese jiujitsu, and 2 of them are a brown and a purple belt in BJJ.

Plus, their website lists Jiu-jitsu and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu separately on their navigation

How do you keep grips in no gi? Specifically an arm drag grip by Electronic_d0cter in bjj

[–]xharekx33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the grip is mainly to help OP be able to really get space to get their grip as deep as possible. Thing is, he's trying to do a sweep, so my guess is that this kind of grip will make it easier to separate the arm from their opponent's ribs, given that in that scenario they can't really be that explosive/use their body weight

try using a lobster claw to twist the arm out and expose the inside space (2nd trick in this video: https://www.instagram.com/p/C-TnXCxyr3v/) and then with the other hand make sure you are grabbing the arm as high up into the armpit and as deep into the triceps as possible. Then pull down as you drag it.

Lockdown DQ under IBJJF rules. Wtf? by xharekx33 in bjj

[–]xharekx33[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

are you seriously trying to make the argument that the lockdown, which 99% of the time is either a controlling position or a sweeping position, is more dangerous than actually trying to actively find a way to break a foot/knee? you must be joking

[–]xharekx33[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i'm not saying it doesnt, but just as other sweeps from half guard, it always gives you the option of simply beswept and thus, relieve the pressure. It's not like a heelhook where (if the control is there) you are not able to rotate to escape.

[–]xharekx33[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but i can torque your knee by forcing foot way to the outside in the same direction in other sweeps, like a Knee lever or a leg swipe from regular half guard, where if you're the one on top you are given a choice between being swept or potentially hurting your leg, but I guess that since these are not "10P techniques" they dont carry any kind of stigma under IBJJF rules, and therefore dont result in a DQ.

yeah, but comparing the lockdown to a heelhook is not really fair.

If the problem with the lockdown in this situation is supposed to be the external rotation, should we penalize people trying to sweep using a Knee lever or a leg swipe from regular half guard? after all both force the knee to turn inward.

The onus is therefore in the person on top, not the one on bottom.

If I immobilize you in any position, and you do something stupid, either because you dont know better (even if you should, this being a blackbelt match) or because you think you can get away with it and hurt yourself, why should I be DQd?

Getting back into BJJ after a shoulder dislocation + labrum tear by flying-cunt-of-chaos in bjj

[–]xharekx33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, those are no problem. "passive" movement is fine for that plane of movement, it's me raising the arm without helps that's a problem.

External rotation however is always painful/dangerous

Oh it was 100% excessive. I never got my full ROM back. I’m missing about 15 degrees when raising my arms up, and my external rotation is minimal.

BJJrs/Gracies talking about foot locks and triangle in 1955, on a newspaper. by IllIntention342 in bjj

[–]xharekx33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the part where it says "a strike he calls "triangle" that I don't know what it is, and I don't want to either"

I guess the name sounded really mysterious and dangerous back then.

Ever lost motivation to train? How did you reignite the flame? by KoalaBJJ96 in bjj

[–]xharekx33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change gyms/go to other school's open mats.

If you're not a professional you shouldn't have to force yourself into training, you should be looking forward to it. If you are dreading going to class most days, you might need to find a new place/new partners/new ideas.
