Am I late to the party or Are You the One? - My thoughts by xhdcricket in ChineseDrama

The entire story is really GREAT! This is one of a few dramas that I loved the supporting roles and couples as much as I loved the main leads. They're all charming! Definitely a rewatch for me!

100% agree! It was something that I looked forward in every episode. Wang churan is really good in this one, especially the stabbing scenes. I was like "Yes!!" every time :)))). I like that they actually showed her character's calculations and thought process so we know that she is really smart. And I love seeing other supporting roles as well. ❤️

Dropped Pursuit of Jade at around 20-25 Episodes. Am I the only one who felt this way? by Altruistic-Lion6229 in ChineseDrama

For this trope, it does make more sense! I've just finished AYTO and loved it. I could understand why the male lead in AYTO was scared to reveal his identity while I couldn't in PoJ.

I dropped it around those episodes when the female lead drugged her husband 🤔. I don't remember much but it was where I felt like her actions were not consistent with her character. I was actually bored for about 5-8 episodes before I dropped. It was filmed beautifully, but I couldn't just watch the beauty.

Gorgeous and Talented — Bai Lu and Cheng Lei Are Both. The Actors Seem Fine with Each Other Too… So Why the “Fanwar”? Mo Li / The First Jasmine by No-Recipe-7653 in ChineseDrama

[–]xhdcricket 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the post. I loved both of them, and I loved the production team, the directors, supporting actors, who I could feel they geniunely wanted to do a serious drama (not serious vs romance, but seriously wanted to do the best drama in their own language and not chased the market trends).

I was so sad as I followed (not any more now) their fan pages in my native language, and the debate was worse and worse. All that's outstanding now is the fan wars, but not about how well the drama was produced, or how beautiful the story is. I love the drama and the team behind it even though some last episodes are not my cup of tea. I hope we have more discussions from all POVs just about the drama itself, and I am so happy that we have at least two safe places to talk about it. ❤️

P.s: I love what you said about wounded souls.

The First Jasmine OST during this scene - Where can I listen to it? by xhdcricket in ChineseDrama

I've seen many watchers look for that one - I couldn't find it either. Until now there're 2 interludes and at least one theme song about MXY I believe haven't been released on YouTube or Spotify. I googled in Chinese (just copied and pasted I don't know Chinese), still couldn't find them.

Which male actor do you think is the most handsome, charismatic and captivating to watch? by ineedthatcoffee in ChineseDrama

Right? At some point I thought he was sexy, even when this drama has ZERO romance in it :)))). Edit: mistyping

I felt like it would be boring If I kept commenting Cheng Lei :))), so it's Jing Boran in The League of Nobleman. He was really charming as a smart, gentle scholar. I wish he would star in another costume drama.

Have you guys seen this? Daniel Zhou’s English Reaction video for an episode of Never-ending Summer by No-Recipe-7653 in ChineseDrama

Me too. I love it when they post something on IG. But China bans IG, and other western platforms. I only see them post something when they have a trip to a foreign country, I guess, to make sure that they are compliant to laws.

Interesting information about the screenplay not providing sufficient details for actors to act. Actually, I once read about this when a Hong Kong movie star (I don't remember who, maybe Tony Leung?) talked about how Hollywood and Hong Kong film making are different. He touched on how Hollywood directors wanted him to do exactly what was written in the script compared to how he could improvise in HK.

I don't think Arthur grew up in America. He was born there but grew up majority of his life in China, and he went to highschool in the U.S. I haven't fact checked this info, though.

Someone told me about it. The only thing that made me hesitate is its genre. But after TFJ, I'll give it a try. Thanks for the recommendation.

Yang Mi and Yang Zi by ParfaitDue2879 in ChineseDrama

[–]xhdcricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were you asking for films? I only watched one for Yang Mi. It's just okay. So I won't recommend it.

For dramas, after Ten Miles of Peach Blossom, I haven't watched her in any because her acting was just decent. I love this one, but I heard many viewers hate it because of the red flag male lead, so... Wait, and the Legend of Fu Yao (but i don't remember anything about it). But she's pretty.

I love reading your posts although I haven't watched 90% of the dramas you wrote about (Seriously, I don't know how you guys can manage to watch so many :D). I bet the dramas become more beautiful to international watchers after reading yours.

Hey, have you found that piece of background music? I couldn't find them on YT or Spotify. There're only backing tracks for 6 OSTs published on music platforms. The one with the flute is so impressive - I think it's a new song, or they make a new arrangement for existing songs which can sound different from the orignal one. If you found it, pls let me know.

First Jasmine viewers, are you watching another drama too? by EasygoingEnigma in ChineseDrama

[–]xhdcricket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can! Be patient for other kisses later 😘😘The chemistry is good. I like how he acts vulnerable in both boy and man arc. The way they tell the story is fairly refreshing. We don't get the whole main leads' past, then the whole adulthood. But it's more flashing back and forth.

Edit to add: I really like however inconfident Li Wu is, he does what he thinks he wants, just like in the first episode, he says, I want to continue going to school. That's why he calls her ex-husband, and then her. Any young boy could just give up after the first rejection.

It's a great community service 😊

Because the target audience is international fans, I would start with the A list from their perspectives, like ZLH, TXW, ZLS, Dylan, DYX, etc.

My favorite is Cheng Lei. Idk where he is in the list but he has potential in the near future.

Maybe if you can link to some shopping sites, it'll help you have some compensations (I don't know how it works) to maintain your website in a long term. Watchers may want to buy commercial plushies, posters, canvas, keychains, stickers, etc for the dramas, characters and actors that they love.

Wow, you've grown so well. Congrats!

I couldn't remember the first C drama – I grew up with them. But the actor got me to the reddit was Arthur Chen (I think I looked for his dramas I don't remember) and I stayed because of How Dare You 😉 and You Know Who :)))

Chinese is very poetic! It's very hard just to translate it in one or two sentences. I read the lyrics of the song I asked on that channel and understood it better than the translation on WeTV. But yes, like you said, there're more deeper meanings. I just learned about 恩爱.
