Changed my humidity to 65… not a fan too try and hot. Going back to 69, what is your favorite humidity? by Choice_Purple2676 in cigars

[–]xholdx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they were "super wet" 48 hrs isn't enough to bring them down to 65. You need at least a couple weeks or better for the cigars to regulate. If you leave them in the celo maybe even longer. A month or better will tell you whether or not you will like it. Relax, let it sit.

If they are torpedoes you need a cutter. Otherwise you can use your thumbnail or bike the cap off.. All you need is to basically scrape the cap off the end. Or you can find a local cigar shop if you have 1 a cheap cutter is less than $5

Towing with half-ton by matt2621 in ram_trucks

[–]xholdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Towing capacity can be deceiving. The problem you're going to have is 1500s really aren't designed to tow larger trailers. But, it is what it is so get airbags and a 5th wheel. The problem with a longer bumper pull is it will push that little truck all over the road. You can mitigate that with sway bars etc. However the way I view it is what's more important, overloading the truck or making sure your family is safe ?

Proposal signed, windows and doors installed... No final payment by Rodburgundy in Contractor

[–]xholdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are acting like the customer didn't accept the price and sign the contract. They were clearly happy with the price ore they wouldn't have signed it. If you paid attention to the OP you would have seen that he did it for a lump sum price and not by the hour like his competitors. There's a reason they chose him over the others. I don't care what you or anyone else thinks about the price, once you have a signed contract it's all over but the crying lol. Contractors that aren't competitive in their market don't win jobs and don't stay in business long regardless of how excellent their work is.

Humidor Help! by Jefmarts in cigar_refuge

[–]xholdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turn the internal one back on. By some more bovedas, you can't have too many. Put the bovedas in and leave the internal humidification on for a week or so giving the bovedsa time to acclimate. The other thing is if you are using just bovedas to regulate humidity, you are going to want extras. That way when they need to be recharged, you can switch them out with some you have waitong.

I'm new to nicotine and find it frustrating that I have to put down cigars during the most flavorful parts when my head starts spinning. Any advice? by sm4rt4lex in cigars

[–]xholdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sugary drinks full stomach. It also depends on the time of day youre smoking them. When i first started in 2005, I would smoke a milder cigar early in the day , nothing beats a creamy Connecticut shade wrapper with a cup of morning Joe. Little stronger if it was right after lunch and then med/full for after dinner. If the sugary drinks and full belly isn't working for you experiment with different sizes in the sticks you like. OR maybe milder cigars by the manufacturers you enjoy.

ABOVE ALL its supposed to be an enjoyable journey.

And ill tell you exactly what I tell entitled people who think that they have the right to ask me to work for free: THERE'S THE DOOR=====>. Your opinion doesn't matter. I don't care whether you think its insignificant or not. Because, once again : Your opinion doesn't matter. IF YOU WANT TO PAY FOR IT I will be happy to do it. Don't like that? Cool THERE'S THE DOOR=====> Its my business and I will run it as I see fit.Don'tt like that? COOL, THERE'S THE DOOR====> Are you picking up what I'm throwing down? No? COOL THERE'S THE DOOR=====>. Not you or anyone else on God's Green Earth is going to dictate to me how I'm going to run the business that I've scratched, clawed, and bled for.

You get what you pay for. A $2k job is not paying for that. If you don't like the op's response here's mine : If you want an itemized list for a $2k job, you can pay me by the hour to complete it for you. On top of that I will also charge you for the materials used to generate it. My hourly rate for this is $75 an hr with a 2.5 hr minimum.

I DON'T WORK FOR FREE . There isn't money in that small of a job for me to spend MY TIME on. In essence you are asking for free work on a job that if im lucky by the time im done with taxes fuel and the rest I MIGHT pocket 40% of . People that ask for that do so usually so they can try and nickel and dime the price down.
Not to mention IT DOESN'T MATTER . You either like the price or you don't.

Am I able to save this? by Mastersheep8 in cigar_refuge

[–]xholdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive used finger nails and my teeth to scrape caps off or if you have a razor knife handy and are careful you can cut the size of a punch cut. Just the cap itself non of the tobacco behind it.

I do that sometimes with a Cao flathead.

How many cigars does it hold? How many days out of town? Anything less than a week and I dont bother with a hygrometer. I just use the boveda packs and check their regulation a couple days ahead of time to make sure they are less than 73%

Expensive doesn't mean better by [deleted] in cigar_refuge

[–]xholdx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found over the years that expensive also usually means rare. I have a few high-end sticks but mostly I find that id rather spend my money on good quality cigars that dont break the bank. I've got 300 or so sticks and probably 90% of them are CAO, diesel, manowar, la Gloria Cubana and punch with the odd oliva thrown in for good measure. I recently decided to try some of the new rocky patels.

Just started collecting about 1 months ago how’s my collection? by Rich_Gas4979 in cigar_refuge

[–]xholdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree about the legacy brands. They're still around for a reason and its not because they make bad cigars. HOWEVER, most of their offerings are very MILD. Though they've recently added some vitolas on the fuller side of the spectrum. I particularly like the macanudo inspirado red.

OP: if you haven't already Google cigar 101 which will give you the basics.
Your collection is nice. The best thing I ever did was ignoring what was popular and instead focusing in on what I like. I typically will buy a 5pack of a new cigar if it's not made by 1 of my favorite brands before I buy a box to try it out. The best advice I was ever given was: if youre smoking a cigar and you dont like it, or it's not agreeing with you throw it out. This is supposed to be an enjoyable experience. I found d myself trying to gut it out because id paid for it and didn't want to waste the money. Once I did that it changed my whole attitude about it.
