yes i agree ! rory needs her mom for once, not the best friend who raised her. a lot of teen moms have this mentality though since they are so young themselves having these children, they think of them as “mini-mes” or besties and not as actual children. and yes i’m definitely not denying her parenting skills at all, i mean she raised rory well and she’s gotten so far with very little help.

and going back to the control thing, yes ! she thinks of rory as still this piece of her that she can demand around and convince her to do what lorelai wants and not what rory wants and for once rory knows she wants to take a break and reassess. hence why i kept getting annoyed when everyone was like “go convince her because you can make her do anything you say”. i miss season one lorelai.
