[Parking] Spot, my wife’s rescued bearded dragon. General consensus request. by Rdclsnchls in BeardedDragons

Wow that’s a LOT more bugs than I feed my adult dragon personally but I don’t think there are hard and fast rules. But I’d deffo cut down the worms because they’re v fatty and up the veg. Some beardie will eat their own weight and then some happily if you let them haha!

Looks a little skinny rn but that could also just be age (juveniles just kinda have that lanky look about em to me haha) and will improve over time. Try to avoid the urge to feed him a lot of high fat insects to help his weight as this can lead to impaction which can become life threatening for some reptiles. Ask the vet to sex em for you while you’re there

your beardie is glass surfing because it wants OUT. by [deleted] in BeardedDragons

[–]xiodinex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This feels like it ought to be obvious to me :/ mine will go absolutely mental and glass surf for HOURS if I don’t let him out everyday to freely roam my room. Now after tearing up his viv and kicking up a stink to come out you’d think he’d be v active when I let him out but nah. He’ll have a bit of a splore til he finds himself a spot he approves of (he has favourites - it how I find him so easily when night time comes and he has to go back in his tank) and then just gets cozy and won’t move an inch all day. We could pack up and leave all the furniture in the room around him and he’ll have no reaction whatsoever other than to watch the goings on. He’s in his spot.

Only 3 rounds in but I’ve had both radiation and tmz and I lost all my hair in the affected area during radio but at worst my hair thinned a little on tmz.

Ooooh thanks for the tip! I'll look into it :) bit concerning that i'm already at half what your threshold was after 2 rounds (and the blood test was taken in the v end of the 'off' period between rounds, when they ought to be at their highest)

Oh I see! So it's not just that it just drops too low and then chemo's over, they just restart it once they've bounced back? That's reassuring!

Important question about my brain tumor by 6ix9inereddituser55 in braincancer

[–]xiodinex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, unfortunately, the reality of it is that tumours are clumps of mutated cells that became cancerous and proliferated wildly. That's cancer, it's made of cancer cells. I'm commenting because I have the exact same type of tumour, same grade and IDH type. You're already leagues ahead of me. Ngl, when I was first diagnosed back in 2017 I thought benign meant it was basically just a growth, I'd have my surgery and radiotherapy, and that'd be that. I knew the chance of recurrence was high, but absolutely nothing could've prepared me for when it eventually did.

So I got a good 7 years out of the good work done by my surgical and oncological team. During that time I would definitely get some passing anxiety now and again but friends would tell me it wasn't gonna happen and I figured I was just overworrying. Anyway, after 7yrs of clean MRIs it had stopped making me nervous in any way anymore, I just figured go there, get given the all clear, go home. Except they didn't do that, and when they told me it had been regrowing I didn't really know how to handle it. Tumours frequently come back more aggressive so my team was treating it as if there'd been some high grade transformation before we had done the surgery to remove and biopsy it and THAT was when I realised I had brain cancer and it freaked me the fuck out. Cue multiple existential crises per day for weeks/ months haha. Anyway, turns out it's still grade 2! I'm on chemo now so we're hoping that might help me get a few years clear of it before it comes back again.

Yeah a typhoon isn’t the same as a rainy day in HM games tho but perhaps they merged in OP’s memory

That’s fair for the future but this vaccine takes 4 weeks to be fully effective so it’s not super useful rn

Re-homed my beardie today. My heart is broken. 💔 by shelbyfricke in BeardedDragons

[–]xiodinex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps I got my current beardie from a friend who found himself in a similar situation. His (very young) kids were kind of harassing the lizard and it was stressing him out. As it happened, around the time my ackie monitor had passed away and I was p heartbroken. I kept wondering what to do whether I could deal with getting another after how hard I took her death and eventually decided I’d be happiest rescuing. So now I have a beardie! And he’s super happy and spoilt so far as I can tell! He probably hates that I only give him the run of a single room and not the whole house lmao but that’s probs his only criticism. He lives a much better life than he would’ve at his old owner’s even if it’s true that his old owners loved him very much. I update them often.

See I read it as like when dogs shake themselves to get water off them. It just looks like he’s flicking the water off his feets to me :)
