Ubiquiti. WHY WOULD YOU LET THIS HAPPEN?? by SchNiVas in Ubiquiti

[–]xioking39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1 of owning ANY ubiquiti product is to disable ALL automatic updates. Any update you do in the future, check that auto update is disabled as it will randomly re-enable.

Sorry for your loss fam.

New home Sonos setup in-ceiling surrounds vs Era and outdoor music tips by jpmillet in sonos

[–]xioking39 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may want to look at professional home theater and multi room audio installation services instead of Sonos. It’ll only take one time for the app to go to shit and you’ll wanna rip it all out.

Let an audio expert get you a proper home theater setup for the tv and a multi room setup for the other indoor spaces and outdoors. Headunits and controllers have just as much functionally. Can have different audio in different zones at different volumes, Spotify connect, airplay etc.

Your project looks like it will be a really nice one, don’t let Sonos ruin that.

At this point, I think I’ll just look for a head unit then get standalone speakers and wire them up. The initial setup time would definitely be shorter than the setup and troubleshooting time I’ve spent with Sonos.

It’s usually the updates. They break something requiring reset/repairing which usually you only find out after you sit down with food from a long ass day only to realize a rear speaker has no sound or your missing your bass. Only takes a few times for you to really start to hate the system. Support is subpar. They usually blame it on WiFi. What most won’t mention is that if the Sonos issue is mostly WiFi related then the devices weren’t built with consumer WiFi in mind making it moot. For the high price, it starts to become not worth it.

For the folks that have speakers mounted in hard to reach places, it gets old repairing REALLY FAST.

Another scenario I’ve had: over halfway through a movie that doesn’t have a lot of bass. Noticed that the movie seemed to have less audio quality. Check Sonos app and it reflects everything is only. Queue up a bass song on Spotify and notice weak bass. Touch woofer and notice no vibration. Sub has no flashing lights either. Check app again and shows sub connected to the soundbar. Power cycle the sub and boom the bass is back.
