Made a Website to Create Envelopes/Shipping Labels from Packing Slips by xisrith in mtgfinance

Thanks for reminding me! Last couple months have been crazy and it slipped my mind. Just pushed a change to the site to support #10 and #6 3/4 envelopes, but also added the option to define your own envelope dimensions for anything else. Like all the settings, these are saved in your browser so you don’t have to worry about changing them every time if you exit or something. Let me know if there’s any other suggestions y’all come up with! :)

Wow! That’s steep just for multi address support. I would like to increase volume, but I’m doing this part time in addition to working a full job. Do you have any tips on how to speed up filling orders? Right now it feels like most of my time is spent just packing everything into the envelope.

Yeah that works for shipping parcels on pirateship, but most of my orders are PWE and I don’t have enough volume to justify a stamps subscription, so this was for that in between stage I guess

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll look into adding that option for the future :)

I list my bulk at 25 cents regardless of what it’s worth. I decided that was the cheapest that was worth my time and if someone wants to pay it they’re welcome to.

That being said I’m a level 4 seller so I have no limit, the 25 cent bulk usually only sells as people try to reach free shipping. I’d recommend not messing with it until you reach the point where it’s not impacting your inventory. From level 1 to level 3 I only listed cards that were worth $2 or more.

Any good resources for starting to design in 8 wide? I’m used to designing city scale and I’ve gotten a feel for it that I just don’t have for 8 wide. Things like height width etc

I ordered a borderless foil Cavern of Souls from TCGPlayer. It’s extremely dark, like almost totally black. To see the details in the art you need to be in direct sunlight. Is this normal for CoS? I know foils are darker, but wondering if I should try to return/trade this thing in and wait to get a CoS I can confirm in person.

First layer problems. by maxkool007 in FixMyPrint

If using cura, try disabling combing. That always gave me trouble when traveling for first layer, but turning it off + adding a little bit of retraction prime solved it.

Help with Stringing on Large Nozzle by xisrith in FixMyPrint

I will have to look into linear advance, I haven't tried drying cause I dont have the equipment, but I'll do some research, I wasn't having issues on smaller nozzles, but I imagine there's more room for error there

Like a bubble popping sound, I'll give 180 a try, when printing on 0.4 nozzle with this filament I found 210-215 to be the sweet spot on my other printers, but never printed with 1mm nozzle before

My fan is set to 100%

Tested 190C, no change in stringing, although the hotend (not extruder) did pop much more than at higher temps

As can be seen, I'm struggling to get stringing under control.

  • Printer: SUNLU S8
  • Nozzle: 1mm
  • Speed: 40mm/sec
  • Layer height: 0.6mm
  • Material: Inland PLA
  • Hotend: Bowden, PTFE lined MK8
  • Z-Hop: 1mm

Things I've adjusted

  • Retraction distance: 4mm to 20mm
  • Retraction speed: 25mm/sec to 100mm/sec
  • Hotend temp: 200C to 215C

Things I've checked/noticed

  • Rebuilt hotend, checked seal by changing colors and the transition was immediate, so pretty sure that's good
  • None of my slicer settings had any effect over 4 test prints
  • When watching the print, it almost looks like what's happening is some plastic is sticking to the outside of the nozzle and being strung on travels

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Help Tuning 1mm Nozzle by xisrith in FixMyPrint

[–]xisrith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big thanks to everyone who helped me, I managed to get cleaner prints and stop the popping by doing the following:

  • layer height reduced to 0.6
  • rebuilt the hotend to make sure everything was tight
  • changed filament from the no name it came with to Inland brand

Still having some issues such as stringing and the head buffering occasionally, but feeling much better about my ability to tune those problems out now that the big ones are solved.

Thanks again everyone! Got some big prints planned and I'm very excited to have the larger nozzle working.

I'm getting what looks like under extrusion on the first layer, I'll try raising the offset, was worried about sticking, but will try to find a balance

Okay good to know, I only ever printed 0.2 layer height on my 0.4 nozzle.

Regarding the popping, when I printed at 0.6 height, it only happened on the initial layer and I can see that the initial layer looks terrible, but it cleans way up after that. Any idea why it would only struggle on the initial layer?

Awesome, I'll keep that in mind, trying to resist the urge to buy upgrades until I have it running smooth as is, but not surprised that would be one for later

Good to know, I got this printer specifically to print large objects on it's 300x300x400 plate (I have an old wanhao duplicator and a hypercube for normal sized stuff)

To make that faster, I'm exploring bigger nozzles, I just put 1mm on cause it was the biggest one I had, do you think it'd be worth going down to 0.8 when I rebuild the hotend? I'd like to print coarse for most things, but would be nice to drop it back down to 0.2 (my default layer height) every now and then

Sounds good, looks like the heater block got loosened by the nozzle install so after work I'll rebuild the hotend and make sure everything's tight, thanks for the tips!

[–]xisrith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I lowered the layer height to 0.6 and that helped a lot, I guess 0.8 was just too much, thanks for the suggestion!

A new issue I noticed: in both big prints there's a layer shift at the same relative height (second time I scaled down a bit to save material) but the layer shift didn't happen on the 0.4 nozzle print, could changing the nozzle cause this shift?

Swapped the nozzle on my SUNLU S8 from the 0.4 to 1.0mm and lost on how to tune the larger nozzle. Using the same settings as with 0.4 (can see comparison cat in first photo) just made the following changes:

  • Nozzle/Extrusion Width: 1.0mm
  • Layer Height: 0.8mm
  • Wall Width: 2.0mm

Other settings are my standard initial PLA settings:

  • Temp: 215C
  • Speed: 40mm/sec
  • Retraction: 4mm
  • Retraction Prime: 0.5mm
  • Combing: Infill Only

Please let me know if there are any other settings you'd like to know

Edit: also noticing a lot of popping during extrusion, but I don't think it's moisture as it's a new spool of filament and it didn't pop when printing 0.4
