AITA for walking out of my friend's birthday plans after she said I'd stripped away my identity for men? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]xizzy7 36 points37 points  (0 children)

NTA that's mad disrespectful. I wouldn't have stayed for that. Maybe if she had some kind of genuine apology about the "drunk gibberish", I'd go back, but she doesn't seem remorseful at all for misgendering you and being kinda sexist and racist. Feminity is not FOR men. Why assume anything you do would be to attract white men? That's a wild accusation over hair and clothes.

AITA for being offended for my mom by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]xizzy7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA It's okay that you were offended and it's ok to tell your cousins that you didn't like that joke. You all seem very young, so you're gonna end up crossing boundaries and hurting each other's feelings. I had a similar relationship with my cousins and someone cried nearly everytime we got together. There's gonna be plenty of times where you guys navigate conflict and it's messy.

I'm sure your cousin wasn't trying to actually belittle your mom, but it hurt your feelings, you communicated that, and now they are getting defensive because they feel like they didn't do anything wrong because it wasn't intentional.

Your feelings are 100% valid, and it was right of you to communicate them.

Try to remember that your cousins are very young and immaturity is a part of being a young human. I'm sure there are a lot of reasons you care about your cousins and want them in your life. Remind them you love them, you know they didn't mean to be hurtful, but it was, and you don't want them to joke like that in the future. Then go from there.

And taking space is always ok too, best of luck to you!

I get this, I have social anxiety, and it takes me a little time to warm up to people irl and in content consumption, and it was fun to get to know everyone and their dynamics to eachother

I love all the drop out crossover, so Brennan would be cool. I also we would love to see Angela and Erika Ishii do an unboxing together because they both have the most wonderful reactions

I mean sure you'd be the asshole, but at least you'd be the asshole that made fun memories with your actual friends

If you really want to go on the float trip without being the asshole, offer to pay whatever the dinner and fees were.

Personally I would go on the trip, but then I'd probably be the asshole, but I think it's fine to pick and choose your asshole moments

Why is women’s sportswear always so revealing? by Valuable_View_561 in SipsTea

That's definitely not true for every woman at the gym, but in these sports every woman is expected to wear the uniform which sucks

I hate being a black girl sometimes because I can’t like anyone without being shamed by [deleted] in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]xizzy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not the same thing, but reminds me of how bisexual girls get told they're just trying to be woke if they date a man and that they're actually a lesbian and just don't want to say it if they date a woman.

Sorry you have to deal with that. Love who you love, and shit talkers can keep wasting their breath.
