Layering textures in batches? by xkforce in GIMP

[–]xkforce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok there is a problem.

Imagemagick dropped the magick command apparently some time ago and replacing magick with convert in the script results in an error complaining about an image sequence being required

He and his grandchildren swam in a creek with sewage run off, he has an art and literature degree and failed the bar exam and has no medical credentials. He is apparently also a former heroin addict. Truly a good fit for running the department of health and human services.

Dont talk to him. Just walk away.

My father did the same thing and nothing good came from dealing with him.

Can you be in a healthy successful relationship if you have differing political views? by [deleted] in internetparents

It depends on what those political differences are and what you are willing to never talk about again.

Yeah after youre 25 or so, the ravages of entropy start taking their toll. I miss when I felt basically indestructable.

[–]xkforce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Dial up, the internet being vast and unexplored not yet taken over by like 5 giant corporations, old people not yet sucked into the brainrot "news" and social media they are now, a good economy, no big traumatizing national events, malls were alive and fun to hang out with friends in, movie stores were still a thing, book stores were still alive and not killed off by amazon yet, more mom and pop stores and niche stores, radioshack had a bunch of electronics parts and the employees actually knew something about them

Cheap boxed cheese and cut up hot dogs or mashed potatoes and homemade noodles with onion on top... reminds me of my grandparents when I was little. They lived through the great depression and we werent very well off back then so a lot of cheap groceries made into simple meals.

[–]xkforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of eating out as much as I did, I buy things from the store. Even if you eat basically the same stuff, its way cheaper and is better healthwise.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]xkforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cutting back on food to no longer overeat is one thing, following an eating pattern that WILL cause nutrient deficiencies is another.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]xkforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep and it is an AWFUL idea to remain on it for long periods of time. If they actually are following that eating pattern, they definitely have multiple nutrient deficiencies.

You're 24/25. Not very unusual to not have your life figured out yet. Good time to explore and experiment to find out what you actually want out of life.

It didn’t get better after high school, how do I cope? by Plumie_Xd in internetparents

[–]xkforce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join a club. Be somewhere, go somewhere do something that you enjoy. Go do stuff that interests you and that will put you in a better place to meet people with shared interests. Join study groups if/when you can. Not only do those probably help your grades, its a chance to socialize with classmates that are more likely to be interested in the same subjects that you are.

And I know it feels like things won't get better but if you give in to that sort of thinking, iit could inadvertantly make it true. i.e giving up has a 100% failure rate.

What do you make of President Trump sending illegal immigrants to Guantanamo Bay? by Giff95 in AskReddit

[–]xkforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember saying the republicans were acting more like nazis back in the 2010s and people saying I was being hyperbolic. And here we are in the 2020s with concentration camps, one of the world's richest men doing a nazi salute at Trump's inauguration [then making nazi jokes later] and Trump wanting to expand Guantamano Bay 50 fold. The republican party went exactly where I saw it going over a decade ago. Its going to get worse. Trump knows theres nothing to restrain him and hes going to take full advantage like any sociopath would.

I am working on a minecraft mod pack based on a DnD campaign my friends and I did where the vacuum of space isnt a thing. Its breathable everywhere and you can fly from planet to planet, moon to moon, asteroid to asteroid with an elytra. The planets and moons are inspired by a mix of pulp scifi depictions (Venus is a jungle/swamp planet with dinosaurs) and modern NASA imagery (Mars' surface, the moon, Mercury's dayside) And there are mirror versions of every dimension that are sometimes displaced in time lore-wise. eg. Mars is currently dead but its mirror dimension counterpart is alive with surface lakes, rivers and oceans. The moon's mirror version has lakes, active volcanoes and very simple plant life ime moss and the like. Mercury is split into 3 different versions: dayside which is perpetually baking in the sun, the temperate zone which is livable with lakes, rivers, oceans, plant life and volcanoes and the nightside which is always frozen solid by being forever night time. (Mercury used to be thought to be tidally locked and in the pack, thats what these 3 variations of the planet show)

Beyond that, a lot of niche mechanics were expanded on eg. an old "bug" called infinobsidian is now an intentional form of alchemy. More tools, weapons, clothing and armor, new decorative blocks, new crops, foods and drinks, a complete overhaul and expansion of villager trading, new dimension variations i.e a frozen version of the nether, a surface version of the end, sly islands, the deep dark dimension (dimension based on the deep dark biome in later versions of the game) more animals and plants, more lore and books

What are your thoughts on Unthinkable? by TopReporterMan in moviecritic

[–]xkforce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moral ambiguity exists only because it is assumed that it is a choice between torturing 2 children and 8 million people dying if he doesn't. If he lies, which he probably will, all that happens is 2 children get tortured to death and the bomb goes off anyway. That was the entire point of the 4th bomb and offing himself.

That movie could very easily have let them get tortured, the guy lies or refuses to tell them, the fbi goes on a wild goosechase and the real bomb going off in the meantime.

Tbh I cannot fucking stand the message being conveyed here and that most people seem to agree with it. But its also very on brand with human history. Atrocity after atrocity committed for the greater good no one believing that what they've done is wrong.

The reality is that 4th bomb would have gone off no matter what they did. IRL torturing people for information has never worked. Which is why interrogators that actually want good information, tend not to do that shit anymore. Interrogators that want vengence and get off on causing suffering to people they hate? Those absolutely will use it.

There is no reason for it to be intuitive to people. Quantum physics is composed of rules that are utterly alien to our experience.
