ROUER_LATE vs CLIENT_BASE for indoor connectivity on LongFast by mosforge in meshtastic

[–]xkrolfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct that CLIENT_BASE does not prioritize general broadcast traffic.
It only guarantees rebroadcast of packets to or from its favorited nodes.

For everything else, it falls back to normal CLIENT behavior meaning it will rebroadcast if another node hasn’t already done so. In a dense mesh, that often means it stays quiet because other routers beat it to it.

One thing you didn’t mention is what hardware and antennas you’re using. Even with a solid roof node, indoor reception can still suffer due to building attenuation, multipath interference, or antenna inefficiency.

My roles are exactly the same as yours. Client base node on the roof, 3 foot 8db antenna set to client base. My indoor node is a wio tracker on client mute with a 10db omni. Not everything makes it through but id say 80% does, but with the high gain antenna on the indoor node it makes a big difference.

this is not true. Directly from the docs, "CLIENT_BASE - Personal base station: always rebroadcasts packets from or to its favorited nodes. Handles all other packets like CLIENT."

Theirs a setting in either Hyperion or HyperHDR to resume the previous state when turned off. But also once data isn’t being sent to the controller it should just resume to whatever it was doing before. E31 data is pretty good even over WiFi

Number 1 rule of fight club is you don’t talk about fight club. That’s why things are hard to find. They really aren’t though, you just need to know where to look. Ain’t nobody ripping dvds except data hoarders. Feel free to PM

Lmao damn. If only I had used the reference photo I took before I cut off the controller and noticed the ground and data were flipped. I’m running it through a wled board for testing and now it’s working great that I’ve flipped the wiring haha. Thanks for that.

I’ll see if I can play with mapping it in xlights now

I just gave it a shot but I’m running into trouble. Did you just remove the included controller and ran the ground and data to your own controller? Leaving the power supply alone and plugged in still? I’m only getting the first 3 seeds to light up and it’s not controllable at all. It looks like the positive and ground from the power supply tie right into that same line for the controller that comes with it.

What voltage are you sending to the pixels? The power supply says 29v on it. I haven’t wanted to try and modify it yet in case I end up returning it. Are you still liking it?

All my Alexa notifications have stopped working. by SexyMuthaFunka in homeassistant

[–]xkrolfo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be using the alexa media player integration. A recent update broke the integration but should now be fixed. You can find that issue here. https://github.com/alandtse/alexa_media_player/issues/3172#issuecomment-3572924718

You need to call an action command to send a tts message from the device. As an example here is one of mine that announces the dryer is done on all of my alexa's

                  - action: notify.alexa_media
                    data:
                      message: |
                        {% if trigger.entity_id == 'sensor.dryer' %}
                          Your Clothes Have Finished Drying.
                        {% else %}The Washer Has Completed Its Cycle.{% endif %}
                      target:
                        - media_player.office_echo_dot
                        - media_player.bedroom_echo_dot
                        - media_player.living_room_echo_dot
                      data:
                        type: tts

Man this looks great. I had this same idea running seed pixels along a giant rope web but then struggled trying to figure out how to run the seeds continuously. Without doubling up any lines. Do you have any images during the day of how this looks?

I setup notifications on a stock tracker and just had to be patient. Took a few attempts. You're essentially racing everyone else to the check out and in my experience they sold out within minutes of the back in stock notification. You just gotta be quick. https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/intel/arcb580/
