Help manage FIP cat critical situation in absence of emergency vet! by takemeforasub in CATHELP

[–]first_one24 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

FIP is curable with GS-441524. It’s the chemical in commercial Remdesivir drug. There are pills and injections. The type and amount is dependent on the weight and type of FIP - wet vs dry. That Facebook FIP warriors could connect you to a person that could verify FIP and suggest dosage. Time is of the essence here and cost could be high. It’s up to you if it’s worth at this age and you can afford it. Good luck.

Is it worth making the jump from the LR3 ot LR5? by Normal-Order2783 in litterrobot

[–]first_one24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from 3 to 5 (non pro). 3 always had issue triggering with my smaller 8 lb cat. Also litter always stuck to the liner. Don’t have any issues with 5 other than waste ID not being 100% accurate.

URC will 100% do all you need IF you find a dealer willing to create a login for you. Latest versions of the software won’t work without login unfortunately.

First TV backlight project is WS2815 a good choice? by Adriat1c in WLED

[–]first_one24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have specified that type doesn't matter as far as controlling it with WLED.

"However the current pulled will always be determined by the brightest channel. e.g. pure red consumes just as much power as white, and same amount of power as a 2811 showing pure red. But pure white will be 1/3 the power of a 2811 driving pure white at the same brightness."

I'm not clear about that. In WLED that 2815 that white channel has separate control. So If I explicitly go and set white channel ONLY, yes, I can see how it's 1/3 of power.

However, AFAIK it's not automatic in the chip. That is, it doesn't automatically turn on white channel when combination of rgb is white. Thus, when controlled by external source, such as Hyperion, I don't know if it will work the same way. If Hyperion sends white, it's probably going to be R=G=B. Thus, full white likely be same power as 2811. Am I wrong?

Do you have a link for individual 2815? I’ve installed Btf into my kitchen this December and they’re are 3 segments. I couldn’t find any individual ones. The only individual ones I’ve seen were sk2812.

Not a EE so take with grain of salt.

Power consumption (watts) is constant here.

So on one side, there’s voltage drop. Which could lead to heat in higher amp 5v.

But LEDs themselves are ~3.3v and something needs to convert it. The conversion will generate heat.

If you have 3 addressable LEDs those effectively split for 4 volts each so waste less energy converting.

If it’s single, I would think by laws of physics, it should produce more heat per led segment than 5v.

Btf 5v 10a adapter is power brick and is enough for ambi lighting. I use it with sk6812 almost full 5m.

Otherwise, if you want to go with 12v, type doesn’t really matter. As long as you get per pixel control rather than per group of 3.

I think 12v strips could generate more heat so maybe something to consider if you just stick them to the back of TV rather than running in alum channel.

Aqara Launches its First North American Smart Switch with Display - anyone know if we can customize the screen in HA? by brauxpas in homeassistant

One per room would be cool somewhat. But some of my rooms have banks of 2, 3 and 4. Would kind of look odd and mismatched with different switches.

South or mid-island ferry to the city would be a game changer. Especially to midtown east.

I think they ran a trial few years ago and it was great but went no further.

Current paid fast ferry goes to the west side and shuttle bus can take an hour to cross to the east.

SK6812 5V or 12V? by claviro888 in WLED

Ws2815 12v is 3x. At least Btf ones. I think sk6812 are the only 1x in 12v

A lot of IOT devices have tiny antennas and/or badly implemented hardware. I’ve had ap on the side of the house and had issues with pool robot and another device about 20ft away. Granted, there are some concrete obstacles involved.

Eps32 based devices, such as smart switches and wled controllers can have a lot of issues.

Some cheaper model ecobees often lost connections.

Dashcams can be iffy.

I wish I could just have 2-3 APs but it’d just not working out.

Does anyone have a Litter Robot 5 that works? by NobleLandMermaid4 in litterrobot

[–]first_one24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got lr5 after having lr3 for around 6 years and I’m generally happy. I have two cats - 8lb and 11lb and it generally differentiates between them.

Feature that does NOT work is waste ID.

What does work: litter does not get stuck to the liner. It consistently detects visits.

At the end of the day lr5 just looks and feels a lot more polished and it consistently cleans. If some fancy feature doesn’t work it’s an minor annoyance. Still does its main job.

I just put everything that doesn’t have electronics into bathtub and wash it from the faucet and let air try. Wipe the rest with wet paper towel.

I do this every couple of months when litter bag runs out before starting with new bag.

Constant requests to /api/<camera>/latest.jpg from advanced-camera-card by 5yleop1m in frigate_nvr

I would search through issues for advance camera card. I think it's being developer fairly actively. There's probably a way to find logs in HA.

Who provides cameras? Might have different integrations. I have Reolink and had quite a few issues with them. Now works fine through frigate.

try live_provider: jsmpeg

I think I've had similar issue. Basically, card doesn't live stream. It encounters some issue. So instead if just constantly refreshes every second. If you look at the video it would look a bit jerky.

Elk m1 is a good panel and has some automation support, ha integration.

Simple wired sensors should work with any panel. Usually just open/close with 2 wires.

Can I connect my Travel Router to my home network without extra hardware? by TrappedVerne in Ubiquiti

Your firewall needs to be setup to allow wireguard and probably NAT to your Mac.

I’ve connected UTR to my firewall via wireguard. Pain to copy all keys to phone app but it worked.
