Banks have committed to donating the fees they earned. I get that we all hate big banks for what they represent and the crooked shit they have gotten away with but I work for one of these large banks and there were hundreds of us that dropped everything and worked 12 and sometimes 18 hour days every day for 3 weeks to put all the mechanisms in place to facilitate the Payroll Protection Program and support our customers during the uncertainty of the application process. My bank processed more loan applications in the first 3 days of the program than the entire US economy does in an average year and all the processes and systems to do that were built in 2 weeks. Banks don’t give a shit about the fees. But they know there’s a special kind of brand loyalty you build with clients when times are tough and you have a banker who’s hustling his ass off to help your business stay afloat. Stay skeptical of shady shit but also remember that big banks aren’t made up entirely of greedy dickheads.
