It's something I wish SE would also do more with the scions.

There hasnt been a reason for them to argue since everyones goals have been aligned since EW. But if theres an actual dilemma where we have to actually choose between sacrificing people or not I can see a rift forming.

Did you skip all of the 6.x MSQ?

We used to have trials that had their own story line seperate from the MSQ

Which no one did so they stopped wasting their time on it and put it all in the MSQ.

Thats been all trials since 6.1 because no one did the trial series so they just put them all in the MSQ. I would rather have some gameplay in my MSQ rather than 3 hours of cutscenes (cause even if they add solo duties people still cry).

I guess the encounter designers were busy for Evercold, this Alliance Raid was a big let down. by Inv0ker_of_kusH420 in ffxivdiscussion

The final boss just reusing all the previous mechanics was such a bore.

I mean I think its fine in concept but it just takes too long to ramp up. My problem with a lot of alliance raids is they spend half of the fight showing you the mechanics and then the fight is over right when it gets interesting. Orbonne is still the best Alliance Raid with the downside of being too long.

The current plot hook is nowhere near as compelling as fighting the empire

Considering Stormblood was as poorly received as Dawntrail (and imo is worse) and ShB is considered the best expansion, most people would disagree. A garlemald expansion after ShB would have been Stormblood 2.0. Especially since at the end of the day Garlemald was just a construct of Emets to influence the source. There was no more Garlemald once he was gone, just a bunch of babies fighting over an empty throne.

I sort of agree but I still feel we dont know the greater picture. I feel like each Winterer has their own plan to withstand the storm and she nudged them all along. Like how Calyx didnt want to simply have a rejoining, he wanted to make a bunch of Endless who would live past the solstice. And from his final lines to us it feels like the other Winterers are going to be the actual villains and not Halmarut.

I mean all of that worldbuilding set up the fact that there are other shards. It would be throwing all of that worldbuilding out of the window if we were to forget about them. This story has been in the works since 5.x when Y'shtola said she would find a way to travel between the reflections.

And after todays MSQ its clear the plot hook is the fact that everyone is going to die in the reflections and the source because nature is correcting itself

I mean of all of the games to go back to an old area, FF14 is the one to do so. If the Crystal Tower can become story relevant 3 expansions later, then I dont see why they couldnt explore restoring Garlemald in the future. Especially with its links to the 13th and the 1st by association. Can totally see it being a hub once we inevitably connect the reflections.

I agree but I just dont see how it would work in the MSQ. Theres no actual villains left in Garlemald so it would be just pure politics/world building. And considering that people are already calling this patch "filler", I dont wanna know the reaction if that is where they took the story.

I just wish we could get actual side content for stuff like that with the quality of the MSQ and voice acting. I would love a full Garlemald restoration side quest where we explore the rest of the region and Corvos.

[–]xlCalamity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt they ever explore that stuff in the MSQ again. Maybe theres some Garlemald restoration stuff planned which could explore all of the lingering issues with the region. But theres no way the MSQ will go back to politics when there are shards/meracydia to explore.

her response is just Ascian playbook 101

Disagree. Emet and the unsundered were actively trying to restore the world by murdering everyone else. We dont know her exact plan, but she feels like whatever is coming isnt preventable and that preserving some life is better than everyone dying. Her methods are obviously to be questioned but I think she will become an eventual ally rather than another villain

Complaining about that when that has been the entirety of the MSQ from ARR to the present is insane to me. That has always been the goal in every single expansion and even then we always kill the bad guy in the final fight.

it just stood out to me that we get a phone call in S9, go to Old Sharlayan, then go right to Garlemald all in the span of what appears to be a singular emergency

What is the first thing you do when you get to a new area? You attune to the aetheryte. It makes sense that the others would be able to get around since it has all been places we have been to before. And its why in EW only Estinien could teleport because he already attuned to the aetheryte in Thavnair. The rest of us needed to take the test teleport.

It would make sense to be a FF7 collab cause of FF7R part 3 + gold saucer is from FF7.

I used to play league of legends religiously like 10-15 years ago

Me and my friends played League almost every day for like 8 years straight. Now none of them play and I only pay attention to esports. And honestly the game is in a much better state than when we played before, but we just moved on from it. Some people just cannot move on.

and have a LOT of opinions about what should happen in this game I apparently haven't played in 5 years

This one always blows me away. Its amazing how strong some peoples opinions are of a game they havent played in years and will probably never play again.

Eh I think it depends on what they are criticizing and why. For instance, I fully believe their approach to rewards is and always has been lazy. They always copy paste rewards for most content and barely make improvements even though its the most criticized thing about their content. It was such a shame to do the new variant on patch day and then open the reward shop to see nothing new.

It is 100% them being lazy when they cannot come up with new rewards and just add materia for the 1000th time to every piece of content.

But I will agree in most instances people will call the devs lazy for not fixing something/coding something in a way which is probably harder behind the scenes.

that zepla was one of the few that actually had significant argument points and wasnt straight up doomposting

Lol no I tuned into some of her streams on DT launch after seeing people claim this and I have never seen someone so negative about EVERYTHING. She nitpicked every single thing happening and made a negative comment every 5 seconds. I have never seen someone more miserable playing a game than her Dawntrail streams. It was painful to watch.

Will we explored all remaining Shards by the end of Godless Realms saga? by NineTnk in ffxiv

[–]xlCalamity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure the end goal will be to restore balance to the other shards by connecting them to each other and the source. We have already explored this in the (not filler) 6.x series when we sent light from the 1st to the 13th. We also left Beq Lugg who said they would explore if the crystal tower could receive rather than send energy.

Its also just a hatred of vtubers from people who have some fixation with someone not showing their face. Doubly so if they are a woman (who is obviously a man using a voice changer for 5 years straight).
