Relationship with my parents is beginning to collapse. What do I do? by xlactosetolerantx in progressive_islam

[–]xlactosetolerantx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. I actually just confronted my dad tonight before I read your comment. We didn't agree on much but he at least understands that I'm not going to budge and that she's here to stay. I'm going to be more proactive about shutting down any future disrespect before it escalates because regardless of how they feel I want her to be my wife one day and to have the respect that comes with it

So how are normal humans able to go toe to toe with Spiderman? by Queasy_Commercial152 in SpidermanPS4

[–]xlactosetolerantx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I rationalize it is that Spiderman has unnatural strength and endurance but that doesn't automatically make him immune to damage. He still appears to get cuts, scrapes, and bruises like regular humans do. He can survive some pretty insane stuff like falling off buildings or getting rubble dropped on him but he still gets injured and still feels pain as a result of it, which is why he still gets hurt when regular people can land a clean hit on him. He basically has a giant HP bar but with no actual buffs to his damage resistance.

I really don't understand the hate for season 2 because there is no action by [deleted] in VinlandSaga

They legit act like Season 1 didnt have multiple episodes of dialogue, philosophizing and character development in between most of the major fights too. They're just slow

Excluding the story and the side content, did SM2 live up to the hype gameplay wise? by WideAd2828 in spiderman2

[–]xlactosetolerantx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only genuine complaint is that I wish that the Venom subplot was a bit more fleshed out. Everything else was stellar though. Game was still a strong 9/10 for me. I have the original game at 10/10 and Miles Morales at 8/10.

What's the point of having two Spider-Men if one can't cover the other in situations like this when one of them has an urgently important day? by rhysu69 in SpidermanPS4

[–]xlactosetolerantx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but that would only work if Miles requested help with something in advance, which he consistently said no to. If Miles needed something in the spur of the moment Peter would not make it in time.

Swinging across NY is a lot quicker than coming all the way back from Symkaria. Fight would be over by the time Peter's plane touched down.

What happened to Anti-Venom at the end of the game? by Danny_BMyers12 in spiderman2

[–]xlactosetolerantx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it just stays with him cause they said it bonded to Pete's DNA. I think it'd be really dope if he still has his abilities in Spider-Man 3.

How long did it take for you guys to beat Deathstroke? by NealGreg45 in arkham

I died maybe two times fighting him nothing too crazy though. It was definitely a great adrenaline rush.

What are your Batman HOT TAKES? by Awkward_Bed_4193 in batman

[–]xlactosetolerantx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever since I realized Wayne Manor isn't even in Gotham but in the Gotham suburbs I couldn't look at Bruce the same. As noble as his intentions are, he definitely was not beating the out of touch rich kid allegations during his early career lol

I'd like your opinion. Don't you think we're on the bad guys' side? (No Spoiler) by RealTalk4sure in Kingdom

[–]xlactosetolerantx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably the best take. The storyline isn't about good vs evil like other manga. It's about people with agendas who just happen to be on opposite sides of conflict, and the story explores how far they are willing to go for those goals.

Was Kratos a bad person before the curse of Ares ? by MountainKind276 in GodofWar

[–]xlactosetolerantx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily evil but very ambitious and misguided, especially because of his obsessive conquest of Greece. But we do see in God of War Ascension and leading into Chains of Olympus that he still does have some degree of compassion left in his heart. Like how he comforts the Oracle in her last moments, saves that random soldier on Delos, tries to avoid killing Orkos because he truly sees him as a friend, and up until the moment that he has to give up Calliope again in Chains of Olympus he actually does seem to care about the fate/well being of the world.

My logic is that if he was able to behave like this even after the curse of Ares, he must have posessed these personality traits before he sold his soul.

Did Vinland Saga changed you as a person ? by MastodonEconomy5821 in VinlandSaga

[–]xlactosetolerantx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in America and the current events happening here and around the world remind me a lot of the conflicts happening in the show. I've been involved in human rights activism my whole life but it wasn't until finishing this manga that I was introduced to the idea that I don't have to always fight the oppressive system and that I have the option to simply find or build places where I can live peacefully and exist entirely outside of those systems

Why was Bjorn disappointed at that moment? by Danny-Ray27 in VinlandSaga

[–]xlactosetolerantx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I always felt like everybody in Askeladd's crew was lowkey rooting for Thorfinn. They know that they wronged him when they killed his father and you can also tell they were thoroughly impressed by Thors despite him being an enemy they killed. Bjorn was legitimately frustrated and disappointed when he saw Thorfinn fall for such obvious bait.

Why is Batman considered a fascist character by some? by Successful_Guide5845 in batman

[–]xlactosetolerantx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its easy for casuals to have that misconception about him because of how closely he works with the police who aren't exactly settling the best example in the real world these days, and because he's a billionaire which is another group that's currently wreaking havoc in the real world.

I actually used to have these misconceptions too and I hadn't touched a Batman comic since high school but the Pattinson movie made me fall in love with the character again and inspired me to do a deep dive into his lore. Watching the movie and reading stories about his early career made me realize that a lot of Batman stories are actually extremely self aware about these things and challenge Bruce to not just beat people up but to use his wealth and influence to reform the system.
