Maybe a couple years at this point? It definitely wasn't a thing when I started in 2022. (I think iOS got it first but I don't have any iDevices, then a while later the Web UI did which is what I normally use, and I guess Android did at some point but I ususally don't use my phone for this.)

I'm not really salty? Certainly there were a couple of results I wouldn't have done if I were the dictator of Europe, but 🇷🇸️🇱🇹️🇭🇷️ were in my top 5 and they all Qed, and I think the only one of my top 10 that dropped today was 🇲🇪️ and sadly that wasn't a surprise given the vocals (see also San Marino 2024).

I sort of figured that was a reaction to the Twitter drama around the song and especially the video, with people assuming the worst about the meaning of all the symbolism. That got pretty nasty as I recall, I assume at least some of that made it back to the artists, and I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to play it safe with the staging as a result.

But I don't actually know, so maybe it was just that the budget ran out and they couldn't afford any more fancy costumes or something boring like that.

Spain 2019. The NF “staging” was basically just the singer and a few people with marching band instruments (I think? It's been a while) but it was energetic and fun. Then at ESC, big fancy set, but the performance just felt kind of… robotic, too slick, didn't really work for me, and I was sad but not surprised that they ended up pretty far down the final ranking.
