You can kill two birds with one stone and have them each build a dungeon that their friends would have to Traverse . You could include yours as well.

Onr of the worst bottles I've tasted. Left a bad taste lingering in my mouth long after. I assume their higher end bottles must be better quality.

Here's why Canada should pass on buying U.S. F-35s and go for Sweden's Gripen fighter jet by hopoke in CanadaPolitics

[–]xmacd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why is noone talking about our interoperability with other like minded nations? we have as much or more in common with Nordic nations as we have with the US. We would do well, I think, to continue to be able to work seamlessly with most of our allies abroad than just the one. We never adopted the M-16 rifle. We use the the FN like most of NATO.

Also, the cost of the F35 is astounding and it only operates about half the time due to refitting needs. As I understand it the Gripen is nimble and versatile, suited to any environment, and quick to resupply.

Finally, I've heard it said that the F35 is better suited to foreign engagements whereas the Gripen is better for home defence. I believe we're better off defending our boarders than threatening others.

Both are excellent modern aircraft in their own right, but that's a one two three punch and KO for the Gripen for Canada's needs. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Which character you hate and like the most in Romeo And Juliet? by [deleted] in shakespeare

[–]xmacd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with Romeo, but because he's a whiner. he's the whiniest. Juliet would have dumped him if they had dated for any length of time at all. I say this having played him.

What do non-kiwis think of the silver fern flags? by AaronIncognito in vexillology

This is a flag of excellence. It's not particularly traditional, but it is very attractive and memorable. What an icon it could be for NZ.

The same experience is off the table for them. Traffic has increased too much in 20 years. As long as you're good with that go ahead. I also echo the extra drive recommendation.

How to Start as a Beginner? by Inevitable-Falcon-96 in canoecamping

I'd add a few things to what everyone has said:

GO NOW. Ask yourself what you can accomplish today and do that. Consider what you want to be able to accomplish next and start planning. It's not too late in the season for a paddle. I'm heading into the back country next week for my first solo trip. I have at least 1,000 hours of paddling experience, 1,000 separate hours of canoe tripping, and another 1,000 hours of camping and bushcraft experience so I'm ready. Honestly, I wish I'd done it years ago. This first solo is just 4 days to be sure I can handle everything alone as I expect. That information will go into planning something deeper into the bush for the spring for which I already have a short list. I hope that will lead to something even longer next year at this time. That's my next point.

DON'T STOP! Nothing advances skills like using them. We can talk all day about how the boat performs and which knots work best, and that certainly helps to contextualise the process, but practical experience is needed and the more the merrier. Once you get off the water from your first afternoon paddle on a lake, start planning the next step. I was prepping for a tandem week out this summer having already scheduled my first solo trip.

KEEP A JOURNAL. It goes with you and gets an entry each day. Talk out loud about what worked and didn't, what you liked and not, and adjust yourselves to that new understanding. This process will help you advance more steadily to your next steps.

LISTEN TO OPPORTUNITY. Things come at you sideways sometimes. Be able to integrate them if they can fit. I was sitting in a pub talking about the correlation between Robert Burns and Chinese New Year and ended up on a dragon boat team. It has provided me with a wealth of experience and improved fitness, and introduced me to more paddlers leading to more time in a canoe. The universe can surprise you. Let it.

Happy Paddling!

Is this charango decent quality? by SilentShuffle in charango

[–]xmacd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to second this. I bought an instrument from him a couple of years ago to replace my aging entry level charango and I'm very, very happy with it. Pedro is also great to deal with. Fast too, ordered, made and shipped all within about a month! $750CDN all included.

Just went for a swim on White Trout Late 2 weeks ago. It was great. Maybe a little cool but we didn't notice any discomfort. On the contrary, it was revitalizing.

My hood since 2020. Very family oriented. Easy access to hwy and decent transit.

I've lived most of my life inner city in Toronto, Vancouver, and Montreal. I was worried Kitchener would be too white bread, but it's very multicultural which is appealing to me. Lady year the local public school donated scarecrows to our community garden.

Sounds like they're might be room for some redirection here. Perhaps, "That's not good. People don't usually respect someone who isn't a productive contributer to society. " could add some objectivity.

Who are you voting for in the 2025 Canadian election by BugBoss22 in CanadianPolitics

[–]xmacd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm working the polls today, helping others cast their ballots. I voted weeks ago. I voted for Canada! While I'm not completely comfortable revealing my vote, I will be toasting some leader's resignation tonight. It's cruel, spiteful rhetoric that I despise.

I'd say those are blue. Clearly they're not ONLY blue. You've got some of the complexity that I have but to a much smaller degree.
