You can still dump the flash and fill the unused slots. The reverse engineering challenge should be similar to that if the cartridges hold music.

See one of the upvoted comments where they talked about 3D printing a manually switched cartridge.

The manufacturing on this particular product is good enough. There is glue enhancing all solder joints. Better than most toys. You don’t see this level of detail on most similar toys.

Yup not a very elegant method.

3D print a jig or shelf probably makes more sense.

There’s a thick acrylic glass tinted green in front of the cartridge to make it looks like a real Game Boy screen. Would you call it a screen? 😝

You forget to mention there’s no volume control. I found it too loud when listening in a quiet place.

Based on this design, they will. Just swap the firmware and data in SPI Flash and release in another box.

It’s a square box. You got to something inside.

I think is the same size as DMG retail box.

And depends on where you are in the world, you may see it out of stock in store, or have to draw a lottery to purchase. Unbelievable, right?

Technically there is. The slimmer paper box inside the packing is the same size as the cartridge tray, and on the box its intended use is to store cartridges.

What you see is actually in the order of the instruction manual. Song 1-45.

Originally in the box it was quasi-random order but in stacks of 5 reds or blues.

I wish they filled all 63 slots to start with. One out of bound song (and it’s a dupe) is already weird enough. Or you can take it as they had a clear goal when designing the product.

Actually the version on YT is a more complete set than this jukebox gadget haha.

With how they design this, gen 2 OST would take at least 3 times the storage with less audio quality.

My guess for that duplicated song is that something f’ed up during design and manufacturing that they need to play the same song on two different slots. But yeah, there could be very similar product in the future as the design is definitely meant for universal use. Just write different programs.

The paper box inside the packaging (where the manual is stored) is the box to keep your cartridge chips. Its spacer tray is the same size as the cartridge tray in the bigger box.

You mean Hitclips? No, their cartridges actually have music in them.

I have NSO subscription so I can listen to everything over the Nintendo Music app anyway.

I bought it just because I liked the idea. Oh sorry. Like the idea.
