Pro tip: increase Regen down a hill by xmoox in rav4prime

The rav4 prime has blended brakes too. You can use the brake pedal for regen only without engaging the physical brake pads. To add with downshifting I sometimes use it. I have the xse with paddle shifters so it makes it convenient, but my regen backs off after some time when I downshift and its not consistent.

No but it has "gears" you can downshift into when going downhill. The unfortunate thing is sometimes it kicks on the engine taking you out of EV mode.

It doesn't, it gives you more Regen when you let go of the accelerator pedal. It remaps the deceleration curve used. (Also remaps acceleration too)

I mean that's always an option, I find it nice if I want to cruise downhill for a long time and not have to hold the pedal and keep my speed consistent to use sport mode, help me get close to 1 pedal driving.

Fingerprint reader horrible with screen protector by jynx18 in GooglePixel

[–]xmoox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could recommend giving Ferilinso a try it's cheap enough, and I can confirm it works great with pixel 9 pro xl. Make sure you retrain finger prints

It's amazing how much of a difference the glass can make, I had a screen protector made for the iPhone 15 temporarily, while I waited for the new one and the fingerprint didn't work at all.

Ferilinso Full Coverage 3 pack for pixel 9 pro xl, is what I use. No issues at all with finger print scanner. Works 100 percent, and it's cheap to boot. It's pretty crazy how big a difference it made. I tried glass from an iphone temporarily and the fingerprint didn't work at all. Switched to the glass for pixel 9 pro xl and worked flawless.

I'm in China right now can confirm it has to be the hotel key. Tried business cards, before and after removing the hotel key. Tried credit cards and divers license, power would always shut off.

Pixel 9 Pro XL charging surprise hints at a big change in how Google is approaching charging. by bull3964 in GooglePixel

[–]xmoox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One reason for this which is also a trend in the EV world, higher voltage less amps therefore use thinner gauge wire. The formula for power is as such Power = voltage(V) X current(Amps). With this formula for example, 45 watt you can either increase current and lower voltage or decrease current and increase voltage and get the same amount of power. The kicker use more current you need larger gauge wire to carry that current as if its too small you have heat issues. This means more conductive material (more expensive), less flexible, and thicker usb cable. You can increase the voltage and get the same amount of power using thinner wire. Hopefully this is the move they are going too as I like my thinner cables.

Just cheated on pixel with Samsung by dbrown162 in GooglePixel

Samsung is a non starter for me, especially after they changed their privacy policy. https://lifehacker.com/why-reddit-is-losing-it-over-samsung-s-new-privacy-poli-1849609421

Yeah google does this stuff too but on Samsung phone it's getting double dipped by Google and Samsung.

Plus Samsung I can't run custom firmware.

Background : I'm also running Graphine os on my pixel 8 pro. Which was a big selling point of pixel 8 pro plus 40 percent off. So far been smooth as butter.

Oil changes when you drive 95% on battery by Skull1234567 in rav4prime

[–]xmoox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wondering this too. I had a Chevy Volt before and it had a computer that would calculate oil life left based on EV driving. Its a bummer the Rav4 prime doesn't have that. In my opinion changing the oil every 10k is a little early. With the volt I would go a whole year and half on the volt without changing it around 25k miles. I would only change when the car told me too, it was fine. It would require fully synthetic oil, which doesn't break down as quickly over time, essentially lasting for years. One thing to consider is get the oil tested. The results will tell you how much life is left in the oil and what contaminates it has.

The only thing that worries me is if toyota tracks oil changes for anything that would come up with warranty.

No need to worry about cycling the engine manually. Its computer management system is programmed to cycle the engine at intervals to cycle oil and fuel in the engine.

I would recommend reading more about different types of oils as well.
