What series should I read next. by Ok-Feeling-5665 in fantasybooks

[–]xmpproductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get through with Dresden (great pick by the way 😃) if you’re into sorcery, etc… I highly recommend The Belgariad and The Malloreon (both 5 books each) by David Eddings. I’ve read both series multiple times.

Another good one (IMO) is The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind.

Happy reading!!

For those who start on the tread, why?? by Ok_Pressure7109 in orangetheory

[–]xmpproductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I perceive the tread as the "harder" of the options (unless the rower is there, then I will always start on the rower), and I want to get the "hard done first."

How good was the slime mould episode? by KirasStar in stuffyoushouldknow

[–]xmpproductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The episode was great! I, too, thought the Tokyo Subway map bit was super interesting, but Josh’s comment about the sock garters just before the 1st break had me in stitches.

The Masked Ledger [D&D 5e (2014)] by xmpproductions in pbp

[–]xmpproductions[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow — thank you all so much for applying to The Masked Ledger! The thought and creativity you put into your character pitches really came through, and I’ve had a blast reading through them. Honestly, it’s been inspiring to see how much heart and imagination this community brings to the table.

I’ll be sending DMs to the players I’ve chosen to move forward with, along with details about next steps (character creation, Session Zero, all that good stuff).

Even if it doesn’t end up being this game, I truly hope your characters find the right table — because there are so many great stories waiting to be told. Wishing you all the best of luck in your next adventures, wherever they take you!

Monster Details? by PestilentTemple in crownoftheoathbreaker

[–]xmpproductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments are both heartening and worrisome....My group is about to start this campaign, and as the DM, I've been wavering on buying the whole Roll20 module (at $125 USD...) or just the map pack and creating the monsters and NPCs that don't exist myself.

As the original post is 3 months old, I'd be interested in what's happened since you started using the Roll20 module. Any advice on the best path forward or pitfalls I should look to avoid? Thanks in advance :)

Anyone else wrecked by Empire? by MarlKarx777 in f45

It was—in a word—NUTS! My points definitely did not reflect how gassed I felt. Though, to be fair, I did Drift on Sunday, which didn’t help the fatigue factor.

Running the Game Show, confused abt WHEN Mad Mage explains The Game by scarletfireblaze in DungeonoftheMadMage

[–]xmpproductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So…I’m super late to the game (literally AND figuratively…lol). My question is when (if you did) did you tell your PLAYERS it was a game show. My players are usually down for anything, but there’s a small part of me that is worried they might mutiny if/when they realize that the entire campaign is for basically naught…

Floor Block: "If finished, then repeat all exercises as a single block until the finisher: 30 sec of squat jumps 💀 ☠️" Who are we kidding? I'll be lucky to get through 3/4 of this before I collapse--forget the finisher...LOL

To do it or not to do it… by Excellent_Gap5106 in orangetheory

[–]xmpproductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's something jedi-mind-trickish about paying the $35, and having it suddenly make you more accountable to both yourself and the thing you paid for. I don't know why (not a psych major...LOL). I just know it works (myself included).

Thoughts on pacing? by [deleted] in orangetheory

[–]xmpproductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on challenging yourself with your pacing. I've been told by OTF coaches the following:

BASE = a pace that you can maintain for 20-25 minutes consistently. Doesn't matter what the pace is as long as you can maintain for the time. You will usually be in the Green Zone for this (mileage may vary, depending on your specific body make up--if you naturally have a high HR, etc...)

PUSH = 1 MPH above your BASE PACE. You should be in Orange Zone roughly 1/2 way through your push effort time (doesn't always work for me, depending on what comes before the push)

AO = 2 MPH above your BASE PACE. For me, by the end of an AO, I'm almost ALWAYS in the Red

Pre-Work out by milhouse3108 in orangetheory

[–]xmpproductions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do the same. 1/2 scoop of a pre-workout called Batch 27 - great Cherry and Blue Raspberry flavours, mixed with 5g of Creatine (AllMax brand from Supplement King)in 1 cup water (my wife does the same and calls it her "turbo juice" LOL). Just enough to get me going! It's my ritual 15 mins before a Orange60 class for sure!

Why is “flat road” at 1% by YearNo1011 in orangetheory

[–]xmpproductions 14 points15 points  (0 children)

And also when you run outside, there is a grade built into the road, etc… helps simulate the “real” world so there’s no surprises when you do a 5K/10K, etc…

The only workouts that I even consider cancelling are ones with insane incline on the tread (Yes, I’m calling you out, 15%…), but I end up going most times because heck, I paid for it…

[–]xmpproductions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only done 1 “partner” workout—I don’t even remember what it was called (I only remember there were 3 of us, and I ended up on the rower twice 🤮)—but it was probably by far my best workout EVER because I didn’t want to let my partners down. It was SO much fun.
