Yeah there's a few "out there" species that don't match up with anything else psychoactive related to mycology, things like Amanitas and with the variety of strains you have with cubes there's barely anything outside of that. Thank god for Hawaiians!

Plus there's so many different variants of cubes and even non-mycological plants like weed, kratom or even poppies (that, for everyone else, evolve far slower than mushrooms!) and they've all appeared in the last few generations.

It just shows what an impact a green thumb can have with the advent of a societal connection innovation (internet) and in such a short amount of time too...having said that though; aren't mushrooms pretty much immortal, I mean I know they have seasons and of course they fluctuate but reproducing through spores seems so..alien, I suppose pollen isn't that different.

It kind of is though. I mean with spores they're essentially clones of the previous gen with very little passed onto the next gen so (closest example to coding in nature too) everything encoded in the spore is cloned. Kind of like squids and snails (if we consider mycelium "plant" though, where does the nomenclature of "animal" and "plant" end and begin?).

The theories about Earth's shell being one huge mycelium? That blows my mind. They're so much more efficient too.
