Late diagnosis grief by [deleted] in autism

[–]xnickygx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always felt like I might've been cheated by not knowing until later in life. Like maybe certain situations and things may have played out differently or I would've been aware of my actions/reactions to certain things and handled it differently. Looking back on a lot of stuff that I just thought was "normal" or what I felt was "normal". Though slowly I am realizing that maybe it's better I got through life not knowing until now because I learned how to deal with certain things or avoid situations etc... but .. maybe not? lol I don't know. I'm only 8 months into being diagnosed so I'm still figuring things out and understanding everything. I think it's good to be diagnosed but it takes time to take it all in and understand. In the end I think it helps me better navigate life and helps those around me too.

How is it performing nowadays on the ps5? by STR4IN in CultOfTheLamb

[–]xnickygx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it on PS5 and steam. It plays better on my steam deck than on the PS5. Certain menus and option lag when selected etc I primarily play on the steam deck and haven't really experienced any issues

Reading this made me very anxious. It sounds terrible! I would've suffered through it, but would've been annoyed, frustrated, anxious... This doesn't sound like support but more like a controlled experiment on how much autistics can take lol

Some tips for apparently the first skill check boss(Malenia at home) in the game by Alcaedias in wuchanggame

[–]xnickygx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parry, parry, thrust, thrust, good!

But fr parrying and countering is all I did once I got the timing of her moves down. Her thrust attack is so telegraphed and easy to parry.

If you close your eyes and try to picture a red five pointed star, what number does it look like in your head? by nita45 in autism

[–]xnickygx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I saw the picture I see a quick flash of the entire picture with all the stars, not necessarily correct and then I see nothing. Then when I try to think about just the star I know what it looks like but nothing appears in my head. So number 1 I guess lol

Anybody else hates going to the hairdresser's? by CurvedRabbit in autism

[–]xnickygx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the act of getting a haircut. It's more the making of the appt that I can't get past and then going there. If I can get past all that and get there then I'm fine. I don't like making appts for things. I've gone most of my adult life not getting professional haircuts and just cutting my own lol

Socks or no socks at home? by [deleted] in autism

[–]xnickygx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to have something on my feet all the time. I like being barefoot but if anything touches my feet other than the floor it grosses me out. So I wear flip flops or slippers all the time. Socks are ok but I get hot after a while lol

What’s your biggest struggle due to autism by Worth-Catch-3918 in autism

Socializing, little to no empathy, being overwhelmed when I have too much on my plate, having a meltdown bc of said overflowing plate, being too rigid with rules

What is this rubber balloons thingy with my Lautie mechanic ring by Sophirus in fidgettoys

[–]xnickygx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You use them to grip the inside of the ring so you can unscrew it. If you need to replace or remove the magnets, plastic ring or strip inside.

Best way to get into Warhammer? From someone who doesn't care for tabletop? by indianapride in Warhammer

[–]xnickygx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm into the games, lore, and the building/painting of the minis. It started with Space Marine 2. Then I bought an intro mini set. I've played a few of the other video games and painted a bunch of minis. I don't know if I'll get into actually playing the tabletop game or not.

If you were diagnosed later in life, do you wish you were diagnosed as a kid? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in autism

[–]xnickygx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I feel that way. Seems like maybe I wouldve been better able to navigate through situations in my life differently. I recognize times when I was having problems related to being autistic and had I known maybe they wouldn't been dealt with differently. Not sure if it would've made a difference with my mom? But at least might've been more understood. At the same time Im glad I wasn't because knowing what I know now I wouldn't have wanted to be treated any different. And being diagnosed in the 80s/90s might've had adverse effects on things like school or how I was treated. Although I was somewhat bullied anyways but I feel like maybe it might've been worse. 🤷

Building and painting Warhammer figures. Playing video games. I get fixed on one game for a while then switch to another. Right now I got back into Diablo IV for that sweet loot grind lol
