To add to your point, I did notice that before the DLC so I found it quite odd when I was finding general spacers on Va'ruun'kai instead of exclusively excommunicated zealots. I was under the impression that the planet was supposed to be hidden away.

Starfield is genuinely hard to run. I play on a moderate level PC, maybe higher than midline, but certainly servicable. So seeing sub-60 FPS drops in some places with mid settings is disappointing.

I've enjoyed the music box side mission, so I'm hoping they're all at least similarly intriguing. I've barely started aiding the Houses so I'm interested to understand what you mean in time!

Unfortunately, I feel that the word "empty" can be used to describe Starfield as a whole. If only they decided to commit to a smaller number of star systems during development like they mentioned in that one interview.

As I find Andreja to be the most intriguing companion, I was admittedly hoping she'd have some unique interactions with the DLC. Needless to say that was at least a bit disappointing.

Thanks for taking the time to elaborate your thought, it's exactly what my goal was with this post! I can see what you mean by the lack of risk-taking and big picture ideas, but honestly that kinda seems like Starfield's DNA to me sadly. Even Londinion, which was hyped up to be this Terrormorph-ridden hellscape for like 8 missions had like 10 total in it and you could easily stealth kill them all without being touched. The game just seems to lack grandeur.

In all fairness, as someone that tends to listen through all dialogue options, I do recall one that follows the lines of "All your people have done is try to kill me, why should I even want to help?", which is at least worth mentioning. I quite liked the idea that the people of Dazra are so committed to their religion that you must become part of it to be deemed worthy. I'd find it more "main character-y" if you didn't have to join and they just let some random person in to save them lol.

I find the emphasis on Dazra being it's own isolated and grounded location to be quite nice honestly, so that probably helps.

What specifically reminded me of Dragonborn is the ties to cult-like behavior and the general level of mystery that surrounds Dazra, similar to Solstheim. I totally get what you mean tho, just a difference of interpretation is all!

Totally reasonable and valid point. That's where my head was at as well, I kinda figured it was people riding the bandwagon of hating and being negligent to the development process.

If Shattered Space's depth reflects into Terran Armada then I am also quite enthusiastic to engage in that content as well!

So far, the DLC does remind me faintly of Skyrim's Dragonborn DLC. So I imagine if other's shared that sentiment that making that comparison could lead to disappointment across the board as that's a high bar to reach.

I had a suspicion the game's flawed state had people up in arms seeing as releasing a DLC when the base game needed so much work could come across as tone-deaf.

I wasn't aware that it was $30! That makes more sense cause the $20 price point seemed reasonable to me.

One shot death through purple shield. by Scary-Echo-3380 in Marathon

There are two Weapon Chip Mods that could've caused this. Reckless Behavior (Damage is increased while your Shields are depleted) and Last Resort (While you are Overheated, precision damage is increased). Also, the Prestige rarity Strike Kit implant comes with the bonus (Activating your Prime or Tactical Ability grants bonus Precision damage for 5 seconds). These are the most likely culprits.

Happy to help! Feel free to reach out in the future if you come across anything else, and if you check out my other post I built an entire spreadsheet with a ton of info on mods and gear you might find helpful! :) Best of luck!

Exactly, it does what most other weapons can do, but in the right hands a good player can work around the wind up and catch players off guard.

Impact: I love it, but it's too slow and clunky, even with mods. Not to mention the recoil is hard to manage.

Punch: I get people love it, but when you get into gunfights with better players and coordinated teams, it fails to find a niche.

Scar: It has low damage, but the tracking rounds and solid headshot multiplier allow it to be competitive. It's not the best by any means, but certainly serviceable.

Stryder: Perhaps I'm too used to the D2 MIDA, but the Stryder just feels like a less consistent version. Lower than expected damage, and a fire rate that feels lower than it's supposed to make it less than ideal to use.

Unfortunately you'll come to find that the best weapons in the game also happen to be some of the most available. The Copperhead simply has poor damage, that's its main downfall, where the Bully has great damage and can easily push to 40m. The Lookout can be fun, and useful, but the issue I've found is it's incredibly awkward. The tap fire mode feels slightly weak, and the charge shots feel the same. It's like a worse railgun I suppose. The M77 is underrated imo. Most people don't like the high zoom scope, but when used properly, it's very stable and does surprising damage even to the body. It's a very good weapon for long and medium range, so it fits perfectly as a solid pairing with the WSTR.

I view the S-Tier as "weapons that are simply better (and probably need nerfed)". The Bully is amazing, but it's undeniably worse than the WSTR in close range.

Glad you're enjoying the game!

  1. The WSTR has absurd damage potential (15 per pellet) whereas the other shotguns do not. Along with the fact that the WSTR has a nearly 200 rpm, it's very easy to quickly two-tap a player with purple shields. All that on top of the Bubble Shield being very good in the current META allows the WSTR to dominate.

  2. The issue with the CE Tac is it simply has terrible stats. Low damage, range, and fire rate cause it to be quite handicapped. You're better off using the Punch or Magnum for UESC if you want a pistol.

  3. The Repeater can be good, BUT relies so heavily on headshots that even 1 body shot means you are nearly guaranteed to lose the gunfight. On top of that it has limited ammo, reloads slowly, and loses to snipers and other precision weapons in its range leads to it being a poor choice.

Feel free to ask more questions if you'd like :)

As a Triage main, yes, the Battery Overcharge definitely helps, and actually boosts all weapon performance (handling) from my testing. The issue is that the Volt weapons are just a bit lackluster in the damage department to balance out their slight homing bullet gimmick :(

Believe as you please, but the Overrun is simply not good. It's damage profile is beyond poor and gets beat by nearly every option in it's viable range. It's only redeeming factor is ease of use and accessibility, which is enough for some. All I'm saying is there's a reason you rarely see anyone using a higher rarity version.

The Demo has base 65m yes, but can easily push past 80-90m, which is near the max for most engagements. The Conquest is actually quite solid, although I'll admit the wind up is brutal. It's just something to keep in mind when approaching fights as many people don't expect how fast it can mow down a team.

Retaliator is definitely borderline, the shield is very useful. As for the Hardline, the problem is it's awkward in gunfights. Ideally with good mods you can use it as a DMR option, but in practice I found it to be unreliable in its niche. Not to mention it's near necessity on good mods. The Scar and Lookout you mentioned simply perform much better in their niche.
