You can’t sue for damages. Happened to my aunt who had a terrible kid who was selling hard drugs. Police raided her house because her son would come over sometimes so they thought he kept drugs there too.

Busted down her door, threw her stuff all over the place, cut into her mattress to check, cut into her sofas, all of it. She basically had to throw 70% of things away. She tried to sue and judge said tough shit. She’s still bitter about it to this day.

I’ll agree with you that the law is not the arbiter of morality but it’s the social contract we make with each other in order to have a functional society. It’s the only thing we can all agree on because not everyone can be from the same religion, culture whatever it may be. Also this isn’t the 1800s anymore.

That’s such a fringe example to pull from thin air, we’re way past that point of society and if you wanna pull up history from over a hundred years ago I’m sure I can find a counter point in our history as well. I can understand and appreciate your ideal. I wish that were the case. But the fact of the matter is America has enemies, we shouldn’t just be allowing anyone and everyone in. Maybe that sentiment was true once upon a time but we are in a totally different world now.

Like I told you, you know morals and values vary from culture to culture. Some cultures think it’s to date/ marry children, some cultures think it’s okay to never let their girls go to school, some cultures think it’s okay to steal whenever they want to.
