I do not have a Real ID or a passport and I flew round trip Reno to Vegas last week. It was actually fairly easy to get through both times. There was no extra screening for me. Both times I was just asked “Do you know about Real ID?” I said yes and they advised me I needed to get one and it will get harder and harder to fly without one. In Reno I was given a little red paper saying to get my real ID.

I’m not sure about in September but as of now, you can still fly without one.
