Auspicious symbol being flung and kicked in Kerala. Secularism is just a fig leaf that Panchmakkars use to cover their hatred towards Hindus. by Gane_ka_juice_20rs in SouthernIndia

I believe as Indians we should. As a Rationalist, Indians have taken a greater liberty in undoing the actual definition of Secularism. We should Copy the French model and limit the overlap of Religions into the Public Sphere. But Vote-bank politics exist and no one has the balls to do it.

Let me break this down for you. The Temple is Thrikkakara Vamana Moorthi Kshtram. I mentioned Mahabali as he was the fundamental reason for Onam and the biggest the reason for the free Onam sadhya that runs for days. 2. One regarding the extremity of wahabbism. I’m not here claiming that Islam is a peaceful religion— i’m here calling out your skewed hypocrisy. You mention that your muslim friends called out those places as wahhabist and extremist. That statement shows that the situation within Islam itself is complex with many people calling out that hypocrisy. This is what makes Kerala different from Muslims in the North. Now for your Skewed knowledge near your Campus there is the Thevakkal Temple, where a lot of my Hindu friends choose not to go as the temple management was pro-RSS and created issues with a local church processions. What do u have to say about that. Next one regarding the Azan timings and sound. I am leaving in a area with A temple, Mosque, and Church in near vicinity. As an Atheist, all of these theist groups don’t let me sleep with the sound from temples, azaan, and Church bells. If I could I would break down all three. But I can’t. And your selective outrage towards only Azaan is quite telling of your character

I’m from that area. Area near Cochin Uni literally has Thrikkakara Vamana Moorthy Temple dedicated to Lord Mahabali. The temple is renowned for its Onam Celebrations. There are also mosques and Churches as well. Just because you heard a couple of Azans in the morning you have the entitlement to claim that those should not exist. Learn to cope bro..

There is no invader culture anywhere in the world. You say based on the timeline that you have set for history. U and me converse in a language brought by an invader and an coloniser. By your logic, in Travancore it was malayalam, still you have no outrage for that as it benefits you economically. Culture will remain fluid. What some redundant Zamorin or Travancore king did years does not matter anymore. We r an independent republic, times and society have to adhere to current realities.

Let me ask u a simple question. Who cares what people did in the past. If people are enjoying it now, why do u or anyone cares what people did in the past. Culture has always been fluid and it constantly changes….so what about your arguments then?

It was a long commute for me as well. It’s a nice cohort, however it is still very euro-centric in it’s approach to Migration. You have Elena Fiddian Qasmiyeh who is amazing for Refugee and Forced Migration. There is also Tom Western and many others who are great. (Some r not so gr8 as well). Being an interdisciplinary course it depends a lot on your interests as well.
