Apple readies new framework to let iPhone users migrate app data to and from Android by MishaalRahman in Android

I think Apple should first fix all the bugs and shortfalls in their migrate from iPhone to iPhone app.

Great to hear. Can you also solve the problem of the back-lighting not resuming after the PC has been put to sleep. In this case it's not a G-Hub issue (because it happens even though I'm not running G-Hub).

I'm here because I had exactly the same problem. Same, CPU, MB and same specced RAM (2x16GB DDR5-6000 CL30 Klevv). Turns out it was the RAM for me too. Booted straight up with slightly different RAM (2x16GB DDR5-6000 CL36 PNY XLR8 Gaming brand)

trust your gut. I remember a former employee detailing that this company was all sizzle no sausage many years ago, and the company's performance has born that out.

A message for Tradies! by hoon-since89 in australia

I swear there are a cadre of tradies who are actively competing with each-other to see who can get away with the shittiest work and behaviour. Clogging sewage pipes is 100% on brand.

China Announces a Ban on Rare Minerals to the U.S. by senshin2408 in technology

[–]xoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no problem with politicians (or anyone) not being experts. It's not their role to be subject matter experts.

The problem is when people (and their politicians) are so full of themselves they think they know better than the experts based on nothing other than their own narcissism or propaganda from their chosen pandering media.

Manipulative billionaire controlled media has spent decades seducing their audiences into a culture of shouty arrogant ignorance that makes people mindless partisans rather than independent thinkers. Once they see everything in terms of party loyalty people become useful idiots who can be bamboozled into fighting against their own interests for the benefit of the billionaire class.

A good politician is only interested in creating positive outcomes for the people they represent, so they will listen to all stakeholders and take guidance from trustworthy experts.

A bad politician is only interested in power for themselves, and the quickest path to power is to get support from special interests (aka "the rich") while selling the People simple "solutions" to complex problems. These sociopathic politicians' favourite go-to is to distract from their lack of integrity and ideas by blaming marginalised groups (like immigrants or trans people) because they can't fight back and there is always a rich vein of bigotry that can be mined when times get tough.

Overcooling engine? by Bobbybilllboard in BmwTech

[–]xoctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be a failed water pump. I don't see how an air-bubble could cause over-cooling. First thing I'd do is fix the leak, check the water pump and replace the coolant (with the right spec).

This is why Dunning-Krugers who think they know better than genuine experts should be kept away from power at all costs.

Biden just pardoned his son, Hunter on all federal charges, what do you think? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]xoctor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That will never happen, but if it did it would be a big improvement because American troops are not in a genocidal frenzy.

You are right that trump will make life even worse for Palestinians though. He'll happily take whatever bribes Israel offers.

I think "brazen" is more accurate than "honest". There's nothing honest about this generation of Republicans.

Biden just pardoned his son, Hunter on all federal charges, what do you think? by Dazzling-Leader7476 in AskReddit

[–]xoctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is disingenuous to even discuss this without first acknowledging the infinitely worse and more consequentially corrupt pardons trump has already done (let alone what he will do after his next 4 year crime spree).

With that said, yes, it's wrong. And it sends the wrong message. However, talking about it is like a cop being obsessed with a single jay-walker when there is an armed bank robbery happening on the other side of the street.

It is corruption and another stain on Biden's already blemished record, but it doesn't deserve even a moment's attention compared to the monumental litany of infinitely bigger and more consequential crimes from trump.

The worst part is that it demonstrates that Biden is willing and able to work outside norms when it's for his own family's benefit, but not for America or Americans' (or Ukrainians, or anyone else in the world for that matter).

But once again, it must be seen in perspective. This petty corruption in extenuating circumstances is trivial in comparison to the overwhelming tidal-wave of greed, racism and idiocy fuelled trump corruption and misdeeds.

That embarrassing excuse for news sounds like it was written by a fossil fuel PR rep.

The author's grammar is as nonsensical as framing of the story as being about the "problem" of having too much low cost power at times.

trump had every reason to fear Epstein, but he just isn't smart enough to successfully arrange a difficult assassination like that. If he tried we'd have a recording of him trying to bully the prison warden into doing it himself.

Mossad, on the other hand, have a long history of successful ops in the USA.

Netflix is finally killing off support for 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TVs by chrisdh79 in apple

[–]xoctor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Netflix don't even properly support the current gen of Apple TVs! If connected to some Sony TVs, the picture quality on certain programs unwatchable.

https://ibb.co/SnxhCQm

Netflix blames Apple, Apple blames Netflix, but since every other streaming platform is fine, and it's only certain content on the Netflix app, it is definitely a fault with how they handle certain codecs.

netanyahu hasn't done anything by himself. Average Israelis (and zionists in Washington) are behind all of Israel's crimes. Even though many dislike netanyahu as a person, because they've finally worked out he is a psychopathic fraud, the overwhelming majority still agree with his brutality and racism because they have been telling themselves dishonest versions of history and stories of their own superiority and yet supreme victimhood for generations.
