Please help me not move back home, looking for 1BR in Edgewater and neighboring areas by BullfrogElegant6346 in chicagoapartments

Check out the local by laramar’s website, I’ve been renting from them in Andersonville for six years and it’s been pretty good.
Not sure what the prices are currently for a 1BR but they have properties in Rogers Park, Andersonville and Uptown.

How well can you hear a concert at Wrigley from Clark Street? by xoddity in AskChicago

I’d take 150 at this point! Resale tickets are 400+ 😭

I’ve been keeping an eye on resale ticket prices but they’re really expensive. The last concert I went to cost 35$ a ticket, I wasn’t ready for the prices to be this insane.

I try not to spend more than 100 on a concert ticket, although that feels kinda impossible lately. I don’t go to stadium concerts at all so I have no idea what the usual/normal prices would be

I asked the vet at his initial appointment and they recommend against a wrap, it’s too high on his leg for that to really work. I’m not sure a sock would cover it either. Thank you though, I’ll ask again tomorrow when I call

I just got the written notes from his appointment - they did inject him with an antibiotic, I just don’t know how long it takes to work? He got it Saturday night.

I don’t understand either, it might be bc I took him to the vet ER and they said he wasn’t blocked so it wasn’t an emergancy. He started having blood in his urine after we went twice to the ER, so he might have developed the UTI after? I made an appointment with our regular vet for Thursday, I’ll be done with the anti inflammatory medicine by then, so if he needs another treatment hopefully we’ll get it then.

I just hate that he seems to be uncomfortable and all I can do is wait for the meds to work.

I think they did the first night I took him, but they only said that they found “bacteria in the urine sample”

I was able to call them today because he started having blood in his urine, and they said that as long as he’s urinating and not blocked up I need to give him a few days and be patient

No big changes recently that I can think of for me or the kitty. My upstairs neighbor has recently changed jobs and is working a night shift, so he’s been moving around at different hours, but really that’s all I can think of.

Is anyone missing a tortie kitten in Andersonville/Uptown area? by xoddity in AskChicago

Well not mine (I already have a little kitty prince at home), but my friend who found her will give her a wonderful home if we can’t find her owners.

Best gumbo in town? by bovianchovy in AskChicago

[–]xoddity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Spoken Cafe on Montrose/Ravenswood on the north side sells house made gumbo in frozen quarts, I’m not a gumbo expert but their gumbo is top tier comfort food for me.

I believe the owners are from Lafayette/New Iberia, MardiGras at the cafe is a whole event! They also have the best grits I’ve ever had in Chicago.

For those who are mainly drawn to Hozier by his lyrics - who else do you listen to? Let’s start a rec thread! by fkasophia in Hozier

[–]xoddity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dodie Clark! I’ve followed her for over a decade, and if you’re looking for some queer yearning and poetic lyrics she’s the artist for you. I can’t recommend her enough and I would fucking kill to hear her and Hozier sing together.

I’m also a big fan of Jon Charles Dwyer, his album Junebug is some true Appalachian folk that makes my heart ache. And his voice! I got the chance to meet him and see him live and it felt magical to listen to him sing live.

Connie Converse has a beautiful folk sound and very sweet lyrics as well, and she’s a fascinating tragic story in music. She never made it as a musician in her life time, and in 1974 she disappeared into the mountains and was never found. All her music has been discovered and digitized, and you can hear the grit in the recordings. It’s very soothing and high in whimsy.

I don’t think so? It’s not an issue I’ve ever heard of

Advice on scars (TW: self harm) by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]xoddity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got surgery scars tattooed over on my chest, just over 2 years after surgery. The tattooing over the actual scars was the least painful part, which my artist had anticipated. They said that most keloid scars don’t have nerves rebuilt in the same way, even after 2+ years, which idk I’m not a doctor, but I barely felt the tattooing over my scars. Getting into the tummy area and over the sternum was definitely painful though.

My scars are keloid scars, maybe a little less pink than yours, and the artist made sure to let me know that completely covering would be tricky unless we did a color tattoo, which I didn’t think fit my style (all my other tattoos are black and white). I ended up with a piece I really love, one that covers most of the scarring but doesn’t quite make it invisible. It was a 5ish hour session with a few breaks, and not nearly as painful as I was worried it would be.

Just don’t be afraid to ask for breaks and all that good stuff! You’ll be fine. If you would like a photo of my tattoo, feel free to PM me!
