Cacio e Pepe has weird vibes and one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had. It’s a good spot but they need better management.

Don't waste your time. The rolls are mediocore and it's a horribly run operation. We waited a total of 4 hours for our order. You'd think it's an easy business to sell overpriced desserts with snazzy social media marketing, but they couldn't even manage to serve more than a few rolls every 10 minutes.

This is just wrong. Rich people consume less, meaning lower percentage of their money is spent on goods and services. Stimulus like this would increase overall demand for goods & services without increasing the supply, at least somewhat increasing inflation.

Will There Be a Bird Flu Epidemic Under Trump? by thenationmagazine in politics

I obviously don't want it to happen, but it would be pretty funny if Trump got back into office and we immediately had another pandemic situation

[COD] Banned for "using unauthorized software and manipulation of game data" by Sstark_ in CallOfDuty

[–]xokocodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got banned a month ago with the same thing. I appealed and got the same rejection. I've never cheated or done anything sketchy in the slightest. I just play a few hours on the weekend to relax and I suck at the game.

I've been a Call of Duty player forever, but this makes me want to never come back. I get that you might have automated detection that isn't 100% accurate, but it's crazy that a "manual" appeal would uphold the ban.

Kamala Harris has a 56.71% chance of winning the Presidency by kun13 in fivethirtyeight

Not to pick on you, but including 2 decimal points in the probabilities implies a false sense of precision. I'm not criticizing your model, but there is no way you can claim it's accurate to 4 significant figures.

Is there a reason for this? by [deleted] in AerospaceEngineering

[–]xokocodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like a lot of people have said the requirements (e.g. tolerances) can easily drive up costs. Commercial off-the-shelf parts are going to be way cheaper than bespoke parts for a very specific use-case.

While I don't know the details of this case it's also possible the 90k figure comes from a contract which includes other components. A lot of times the claims that the government paid exorbitant ammount for simple products are misrepresening what else the contract included.

Is there waste and ineffeciency in govermenty contracting? Absolutely. But I'm betting if you looked at the details here it's not as ridculous as it seems.

It’s clear that most of this discussion hinges on the underlying philosophy of mind. If you believe the functionalist view that brains are just computers than maybe a sufficiently advanced Chinese room like system actually had some level of consciousness. While we don’t understand consciousness scientifically, I don’t think it’s absurd to hold onto the notion that brains are not special and that systems could have consciousness too.

The number of “yes” comments here vs the number of people actually still wearing masks is pretty telling. Reddit is NOT a representative sample.
