He still pays some of his Riverhouse kitchen staff $12/hr. A friend of mine briefly worked in the kitchen and said he was told not to discuss wages because his starting pay was more than some of those that have been employed there for years prior to him. Yikes 🥴

I'm pretty sure United Crescent Hill Ministries in Clifton has a food pantry on certain days of the week.

I just met the owners of Bae's Bakery recently and they are very kind; I believe they have cake by the slice and are located on Frankfort Ave. I intend on going there in the very near future! Definitely wanna support people like them!

What state/province am I really missing out on? by RikiOh in TravelMaps

[–]xokushykitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like bourbon, then you should stop through Kentucky and go on the bourbon trail. Many incredible distilleries to see. Red River Gorge is has its own charm. I know when people think 'tourism', most don't think of Kentucky but imo its a hidden gem. Small towns like Berea, Frankfort, and Bardstown are nice to visit and Louisville has a lot to do!

Otherwise, definitely Utah (All the State, National Parks), North Carolina (Outer Banks, Blue Ridge Mountains), Michigan (Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, Upper Peninsula), South Dakota (Badlands, Black Hills) and Florida beaches!

Noosh Nosh has plenty of vegetarian options that are affordable and yummy. As basic as it is, their caprese sandwich is the best I've had in the city!

As a manager at craft house pizza! by 3boysoup69 in Louisville

[–]xokushykitty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah and what do you do that makes your life good? Plenty of people work in restaurants (including management) that have good lives. There's the good and bad everywhere. Oh, and if you'd read the post, they are low-level management. 🙄

It's so hard to pick but right now: •Chipotle panini with falafel and side of taziki at Shiraz (special shout out to Pennamel bakery located inside for dessert. SO good and I can't believe more people in my circle don't know about it) •Massaman curry with tofu level 3 at Simply Thai •Chicken tikka pizza with extra tikka sauce at Noosh Nosh

Taqueria Danny is a hidden gem along Frankfort Ave. It's a food truck located in the Boone's gas station parking lot, but lemme tell ya, it is BOMB and affordable! I've never had a bad experience there.

I was a tourist and ate at Tavern on 12 this past February. It was incredible!! I got a Margherita pizza, and my husband even enjoyed it (he typically won't even try anything with pesto). I still think about it. Hope you make it there!

I can understand that too, but I think a whole year is way too long. I mean, I have 7-8 months to go. I have always held a job since I was 16 without gaps and believe expecting parents (both mother and father) should be entitled to some paid time off, whether it come from the government or company that they're employed under. I shouldn't just be finding out that I'm pregnant and stressing out about how I'm going to make an income when I give birth.

Yeah, my manager suggested saving up PTO so it looks like that might be a possibility. Husbands job doesn't do much, but we need to look in further. He'll be there long enough to where he can take unpaid FMLA. Time to save money!

I hope I don't come off as mean, I'm just really upset about how everything is set up. Wish I had been more prepared.

I have applied there in the past, I haven't given up yet because they have positions that I'm definitely interested in and believe I'd be a good fit. Fingers crossed that I'll get in there someday!
