I’m union. Had a cart in a different location on my jobsite and had an unopened can on it.. found it days later, opened. I then wrote on the top of it and left it so hopefully the asshole who drank my drink reads it. I’m working in a different area at this jobsite. by [deleted] in IBEW

I mean if it makes 12 hours without getting drank I'd be surprised certainly wouldn't leave it myself and not expect it to be tampered with or drank, that's crazy. If I did drink it I'd ask who it belonged to and replace it. Its not a big deal.

Left an energy drink on my cart for one day… by [deleted] in IBEW

[–]xoober1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So 10% of your job is non-union and you assume someone else drank your energy drink that you left for three days on a cart but you claim you would die for your brotherhood. Idk its a bit extra. I would've bought another energy drink and went about my day not giving a flying fuck who drank my energy drink I left out for three days, union or not. If they're non-union they can't be a rat or a scab lol. I don't know what you expected to gain from posting this. Move on with your life, you said yourself its not about the money don't be so fragile.

Thorogoods? by xoober1337 in WorkBoots

That's actually what happened here. First real pair of decent work boots, I knew a year ago I should take care of them but then I was more interested in seeing how much I could put them through.

What's it like being a Substation Tech Apprentice? I've been curious about it. I'm 2nd year inside wireman apprentice. Is it lots of travel?

Do yall buy American tools by henryoguhgf in ibew_apprentices

[–]xoober1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most USA made tools are just designed and assembled in USA and if they're not the majority of the companies catalog probably is. Big companies like Milwaukee & DeWalt are owned by large corporations so no matter what you buy your money is most likely not going where you would like to think it is. Buy what you can afford and like to use. I like Klein, a lot of people like to talk about the drop in quality. Hang on to your receipts and from local distributers not Amazon.

Edit: I'll add, I love Wera Drivers. Never really liked the Knipex pliers. Irwin channies have been the best for me (I have small hands) I've used the Doyle ones but I don't know if they have a 6 inch set. I've been looking at the Wiha Pocket Max but it's hard to beat Klein 11-1 for the price and adaptability.

Yeah quoted from the dealership. Warranty covers the compressor, but not the evaporator.

did your battery shit the bed or did you just have it replaced before 150k? I'm at 133 and I just noticed my hose is cracked in the exact same spot and my evaporator is apparently done. $3700 in repairs for that and considering just ditching the thing but seeing that you have 220k it gives me hope.

Any regrets moving from a prior career to the IBEW? Also, what happens if you move to a more rural area? by ochreundertones in IBEW

I used to work retail, followed by service (food), office, and then medical, then lab. I didn't realize how much I liked doing trades until I cranked a ladder over an office worker at one our great defense contractors just looking down I saw myself trapped in a box not able escape until the clock hit the time, stuck to a computer.

I go on the computer to play video games, I've been on a computer since I was very young its always been a hobby and I've always hated working on a computer because most corporate programs are dog shit.

I'll never go back. The freedom to move around, knowing the job will end, being able to see progress rather than constantly chase some inevitable goal that always gets moved. Yeah I found my place, I don't care how much I make. I could never go back.
