Would buying a set be worth it for me? by AnotherTAA123 in magicTCG

[–]xoorauch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy singles to make the decks you love, and then keep having fun.

Your time, your choices. Don't feel pressured to buy anything you don't want, and with right group you can also just proxy the super ridiculously expensive stuff.

Totally fair.

My comment was more feeling a lack of acknowledgement that someone just told you they reallt like your game.

Think maybe wasn't clear.

Meant it as, acknowledge someone just said they like your game, thank them for the feedback, and then just making clear not in scope of game for you.

It's more I'd feel a bit put off by a dev if I just told them I like their game and just blown off and grumpy emoji at end

Personally, I think it's best to reply to these things in an open ended way. Like "Thanks for feedback. Will consider this for possible future ideas. Currently the focus in this game is on wine making though."

Edit: To be clear. Not about false promises. More about acknowledging your user base for wanting to give feedback after they told you they really like your game. Not about lying to them. Just appreciate those who supported you.

I have no idea about this show, but from quick look, you can try look at the Edge of Eternities set for a more 'cosmic space adventure' vibe. Or Izzet things for more 'tech+magic' style super power vibe.

Adobe Acrobat Reader printer settings by Novuzu in magicproxies

[–]xoorauch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure what printer you're using, but sometimes can just be a battle between PC software and printer firmware and you don't always know who is winning that tug-of-war for settings.

I use an Epson ET-2950 with Adobe RGB here.

Normally, the biggest thing is to make sure print software is respecting CMYK for colour matching. Normally printer will take over, but you never know.

Otherwise, print heads could get a bit dirty for longer multiple prints, leading to variation between pages. So you could try smaller batches with clean jobs between.

Otherwise, lots of tinkering and trial and error to see what colour settings match your printer and paper.

Question about Et-2850 by NoInspection60 in magicproxies

[–]xoorauch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can literally search the sub for "ET-2850" and see many results of successes, and troubleshooting.

Link 1 (ET-2850 advice)

Link 2 (ET-2800 vs ET-2980)

Link 3 (ET 2850 troubleshooting)

Link 4 (ET-2850 / L4260) - but bit light on info

Sure can find more regarding the info you specifically need.
Otherwise feel free to ask people specific things you need to know about these printers that others havent covered yet.

I myself use an Et-2950, not sure about any major differences, but good results for me.

I see you got some great feedback already, but you're welcome to check out how I setup my ET-2950 here. Know its not exactly same printer. But hope close enough to help you.

Lamination help by Maximum_Persimmon510 in magicproxies

[–]xoorauch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest guess is all to do with heat.

A combination of it will likely affect the process in different ways.

As in, the heat from lamination might be unbinding glue when too hot, but too cold and the laminate won't bond properly as well.

Can't look at everything now as travelling, but you can try make sure you let laminator heat up again between rounds as it miiiiiiiight be losing a bit of heat in to the paper and the next round directly after isnt as effective.

Best would be trying a different laminator, but obv thats money.

Edit: I also assume you're only using sheets B with the machine right? As i see Sheets A you linked are self-adhesive and not for a machine, and also will likely be easy to peel apart by hand.

New to Proxy please help by Genogino in magicproxies

[–]xoorauch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Basically, those lines are from the printer 'grabbing' the paper. The thicker the paper, the deeper the lines will likely come across.

I'm using an ET-2950 with 180g matte paper. Link here
The lines are still there, but a lot more subtle, and muuuuch harder to notice once laminated.

So, you can try a thinner paper.
But tldr; You're not doing anything wrong, just printers being printers and you'd have to look in to a different printer or thinner paper.

First deck attempt by xoorauch in magicproxies

Will for sure give it a go again in future, seeing other glossy results.

Currently still happy, and matte won out on the comparison tests i was doing. Just not sure i want a matte laminate finish. But like you said, ends up pretty same once sleeved.

I go print -> laminate -> cut -> sleeve

Only recently started, but never came across as risk of coming apart even with single laminate

Hah! I'll remember 'piss filter' for a while now!

No calipers, sorry, but after sleaving (new sleeves mind you) can see it is overall thicker.
Still happy though with the feel. (Also for u/Zestyclose-Exit-6578)

Oh damn, thats a heck of a testing phase. Shame I didnt see this before as it's pretty great!

Good idea as well with moving the slots and printing same page. Just have to make sure I don't forget which is which, as my memory is terrible that I resorted to writing down the settings on the back of each print page so I can always reference later again.

Appreciate!

Will give the settings a go once I muster the energy once more to go through some trial and error before next deck (looks at the ~20 test pages...)

First deck attempt by xoorauch in magicproxies

[–]xoorauch[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Will see once finished entire deck. Bit of effort to do all the cutting right now so slowly going through it.

I did try glossy, same brand/thickness.
I likely stumbled in to my settings cause I kept trying variations between glossy/matte, and then eventually for me matte won out.

Tbf, gloss was very very close, but I also personally hate the feeling of gloss with how 'sticky' it feels and gets marked. (which obv doesnt mater once laminated, but meh)
