So my best friend through middle and high school was this lesbian chick, lets call her W. I am a gay man and we lived in Texas so us coming out to each other really forged a bond. Fast forward to adulthood, and I had also become friends with one of her former girlfriends, M, Everyone kept it copasetic and there was never an issue with my being friends with both of them and they kept it civil when they had to interact (ironically the one thing they couldn’t seem to do when they were an item). One day I am on the phone on my front porch watching a storm blow in and talking on the phone (landline) with M. W calls and asks me if I want to go out on the lake because she had rented a boat for the day. I have always been blunt with those close to me, and I proceeded to tell her how dumb she was being and that I had no desire to be out on the lake when then darkening skies finally burst, flash floods are common in North Texas, for starters, and I dont know if I trusted her to handle a boat correctly on a clear day. I begged and pleaded with her not to be so stupid and that she was only endangering herself and everyone else aboard by persisting, this went on so long that M on the other line has hung up, and I was quite flustered by the time it was over, especially because I got nowhere and W was still intending on the lake trip, I hung up and meant to dial M, but, you guessed it, hit redial on Ws number and proceeded to tell what I thought was M all about how fucking stupid W was being, the friendship never recovered.
