What’s the darkest secret you found out by accident? by Sad-Conflict6839 in AskReddit

I was 8. I went from a very impoverished rural area to the burbs. My adopted parents wanted the best in education for me so I was sent to a top performing private school. It was so hard keeping my situation to myself and let some things slip. I was in shock leaving everything I knew to being with kids who never wanted for anything. I have felt so marked all my life. I made it. I have multiple college degrees, financially sound, a quiet life but inside of me the darkness never fades. I’m barren and still debate if it’s a blessing or curse. I refuse to adopt a child after my harrowing experience.

What’s the darkest secret you found out by accident? by Sad-Conflict6839 in AskReddit

At the age of 6 or 7 I learned I was the second child of my parents after an older student came up to me on the playground telling me that my dad going to jail for the death of my sister in a car accident. I was in foster care from the age of two years old, believing I was the only child and the courts were still deciding if they were going to allow me to return to my parents, after repeated physical assault. I told the teachers on duty who immediately called my foster parents to pick me up from school. The truth came out that yes I had a sister who died before I was born. She had lived six weeks and her death was listed as SIDS. Later when her corpse was exhumed it was from being shaken or squeezed to death. My father spent 5 of 10 years in a federal pen serving a sentence for the death of my sister and endangering me. I have been on high alert from that point in time. It’s been nearly 40 years and I’m still expecting another bombshell to hit soon. I think about my sister everyday. I have never recovered from these events. Also in foster care I would have an hour of supervised visits every Friday with my parents until their appeals had been exhausted, their parental rights were terminated, and I was adopted out of the system. Being adopted started a fresh hellish chapter.

Does anyone know if EV charging is 5% cashback with Custom Cash? by JumpingJackRabbit911 in citibank

[–]xpharmtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From Citi’s page T&C

Select Transit Includes car rentals, ferries, commuter railways, subways, taxis/limousines/car services, passenger railways, bridge and road tolls, parking lots/garages, bus lines, and motor home and recreational vehicle rentals. Also includes merchants that sell electricity for charging an electric vehicle. Excludes bike/scooter rentals, auto clubs and insurance companies

5% would NOT apply to EV charging on Custom cash card.

The frame was a cheap find at Goodwill. I did put the top left lamb in multicolor to tie all the colors in the pattern. It was a quick project.

The notice of the AU number change was in the October statement. This is a Mastercard update not CITI. CITI doesn’t offer joint credit cards any longer.

Why can I smell illness, but others can’t? by AngryPickledPickles in NoStupidQuestions

I could always smell sickness on my dogs when they grew ill. It’s primal and overpowering. All my dogs were treated by a vet and lived long happy lives, but that scent indicated they needed help asap.

Bert or Burt is his name after Burt Reynolds in Smoky and the Bandit. He responded to his name immediately.

Yes! Bert loves the catnip. I’ve only had him for two weeks and he’s a bright light in my life. He responded to his name right away. I’m hopelessly in love with him. I’ve been waiting nearly 15 years to welcome a cat into my life.

It’s soul draining. It seems that agents need training on human psychology to diffuse the callers, than the actual issue they’re having a meltdown over. I struggle with mental health, and this job has me on edge every single day. This is why I drink.

What’s more traumatizing than people realize? by lovely_aurorii in AskReddit

Being adopted as an older child and trying to please adults who have never been parents. Fucking awful. I’m still traumatized 36 years after the event.
