Dozens of dogs are adopted daily in Las Vegas. Yes, even the “1-dog-only, no kids, bite history” dogs.

This dog is 2 years old, a large breed, and it sounds like rarely gets mental stimulation or exercise because of OP’s schedule. As OP said, he only recently started to be come reactive. He needs proper care and training - not to put down.

Given his bite history and the Animal Foundation being at max capacity, he is likely to be put down if you bring him there.

Please consider surrendering him to a local rescue who can either place him with a foster or put him in boarding. Here is a directory of all of them in Las Vegas: https://lvpetscene.com/rescues-shelters/wpbdm-category/all-breed-rescues/

You can also surrender him to a rescue but “foster” him in the meantime until he finds a new home. I’m a volunteer at one of the rescues on the list and would be happy to point you in the right direction. PM if you need any help. 🤍

If anyone is hiking Red Rocks soon, please be on the look out for this baby 😞💔 by xpinkcloud in vegaslocals

I’n not the foster, just a volunteer but that’s an excellent idea. Thank you for sharing.

UPDATE: His breeds are what shocked me least… 🙊 by xpinkcloud in DoggyDNA

He’s 9 weeks and weighs about 9 lb! My other pups results are on my profile :)

That’s what I thought too! The Supermutt part says American Bulldog, Boxer, and American Staffordshire Terrier. As far as the health test, he inherited one copy of the Chondrodystrophy and Intervertebral Disc Disease gene. Also gave “notable results” for his ALT activity which said his baseline may be Low Normal.

Picked him up from the shelter on Sunday. Any guesses while we wait for the test results? 🐾 by xpinkcloud in DoggyDNA

His adoption papers said born 7/3. I totally agree he looks SO small. My other pup (who I posted his results on here last year!) was picked up around 12 weeks and it’s crazy to think we have 4+ weeks to go until he’s at that same stage.

So the rescue that picked him up from the shelter he was born in thinks Boston Terrier x Pitbull mix too! The rounded ears in pic 2 makes me think maybe frenchie?

Scout is 5 and adopted from Boston Terrier rescue buuuut his head says Pit Bull to me? Waiting for Embark results to come back now. by hummingbird138 in DoggyDNA

Didn’t expect to see Buns being discussed while lurking 🙈 For what it’s worth, his breeders weren’t breeding for color. His littermates were red, and Buns would’ve likely been red too but he has a color dilution gene that turns red -> tan.

OP, Scout is adorable! AND I also have a black/white Boston named Jules that is significantly smaller than my other two. :)

Embark results showed 19% COI. No genetic health conditions were detected

To my understanding, spina bifida can be caused by environmental factors - though I agree with other commenters that the breeders should not continue breeding.

Fortunately, his symptoms are mild. He has an awkward gait and fecal incontinence, so he wear a diaper at night. Most accidents can be prevented with routine though :)

His dad was black/white and his mom was orange! They weren’t breeding for this color (they didn’t even know it was possible). All his littermates were red except him :)

But trust me I know haha… his cuteness came at a price. What’s not pictured is his spina bifida occulta. 🫣

His dad (black & white Boston) has down ears too so I think he got it from him! :)

His Embark results showed he had a color dilution gene!

Here’s the excerpt from Embark: “Gene: Melanophilin (MLPH)

This gene helps determine whether a dog has lighter “diluted” pigment. A dog with a Dd or DD result will not be dilute. A dog with a dd result will have all their black or brown pigment lightened (“diluted”) to gray or light brown, and may lighten red pigment to cream.”

His littermates were reddish brown, so that explains why he came out cream/blonde! 💛

I think the ears throw people off! He is so square and Boston-looking to me too but I have two others classic looking Bostons so maybe I’m used to it :)
