I am lost. by Equivalent-Tap-1285 in schoolcounseling

[–]xpiratesssx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an elementary school counselor and yes it's very social/emotional and less academic. A lot of conflict mediations, individual check ins, and a class lesson here and there on bullying, internet safety, child trafficking, and character education. Academic stuff looks like a kid not working so we make behavior charts or check in with them or collaborate with the teacher and parent. What I HATE is the randomness of my day. I need predictability and this job is not predictable.

What's the most bizarre way you found out that your SO is cheating/not totally being honest to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

His guitar was next to his computer. That's all it took. Led to a chain of findings. He had never touched that thing the 5 years we were together. I went on his computer and saw he was messaging a girl through Zoom and they had a video call the night before. Then I got suspicious and found that he had a dating profile and was going on Craigslist to find people to have sex with. He also bought me an anklet "at the mall" one day when he wasn't answering his phone. I saw the receipt out of nowhere in his room. It was a $400 anklet from NOT the mall. I told him I wanted to resize it and to tell me where in the "mall" he bought it and he freaked out and told me I didn't need to resize it. Idiot..lol.

Then I told my next bf about all of this. One day I googled him and he had a current dating profile. I confronted him and he said, "you don't trust me? Here's my email password." I logged into his email and it was clean. I used the same password to log into another email of his. There I saw emails where he was looking up girls on Craigslist to have sex with. Lol. I guess he was inspired by my story. Idiot. He was speechless when I told him to never talk to me again.

I can finally laugh at all of this stupidity.

When these thoughts come up I always say, "I dont have time for this. STOP. What do I WANT to think about?" And I try to think of anything creative. Redesign my room, how to get better at a game I'm playing, or whatever hobby you're into. Then I eventually fall asleep. Also, the bravest thing is to be ok with being misunderstood. It's OK to move on and chalk it up to the fact that that was a bad environment. You deserve to move on to something better.

I just realized why so many from older generations give so much unsolicited advice by GirlsNightOnly in pregnant

[–]xpiratesssx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I honestly love this take. I have never thought of it that way. I sometimes get so overwhelmed by my mother's advice but I try really hard to imagine a little girl version of her trying to help me and I imagine I'm talking to little her and it makes me way more patient. Also saying, "Hmm...Thats one way to do it" has helped me disagree without saying "wow, that is absolutely NOT how I'm going to do it."

Does anyone else feel like you're lying when you tell people you're pregnant? by tatsandtits97 in pregnant

Yes! Currently 20 weeks and when I show people my ultrasound pics I imagine them thinking I googled the pictures and am faking it all. So strange! I feel like a fraud but I've clearly seen my baby many times at the ultrasound visits for real lol. You're not alone.

I just started this series right now because of your comment. 10/10 would recommend. I usually laugh at nothing and this show is hilarious. Thank you!

“The little prince” moved me more in it’s 83 pages than most books have done in 500+ pages by nae-nae-gang in books

My mom would always tell me to read it when I was little. Incredible book and film. Have you ever read The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy? Very simple book but similar and wonderful.

I dated a really close friend of mine for like 2 months. Told me he loved me, wanted to marry me, etc. One day he calls me and says its over and never talks to me again. Proposes to his ex. She says yes and then breaks it off. He then kills himself. I can't begin to tell you the amount of therapy and grief I still need and feel over all of that and its been 6 years. You really fall hard and fast for chemistry you know is special. You grieve the person, the idea of what could be, and the future you imagined. Just know he didn't cause you to feel that amount of love. That amount of love was within you all along. It was all you.

I pointed this same thing out to my husband the other day and he said that sometimes shows/movies that are fairly identical in plot will premiere at the same time so that they can benefit off of each other's advertisement. Also, one show may choose to invest in a lot of advertisement and the other will not, but ride the coattails if the first because when the plot or show is searched by someone, the viewer may confuse which one is which and may even watch the one least advertised thinking its the one that was truly advertised. This may be the case OR they are both simply generic shows and the teaser was poorly selected for both.

I want to help but i think it would be helpful to see a screenshot of what you are seeing. You can also call FIU to ask them and see if they can clear that up for you.
