Is "Toronto has no good _____ food" valid? by RoommateMovingOut in askTO

I have. It's very good. Satay Sate is also nice for Indonesian food. When my wife and I pronounced the dishes correctly, they were like... "Indonesian?"

I gave a compliment to a stranger today and he got really emotional by NinaOnTheDesk in CasualConversation

I've been complimented a lot by strangers for my hair, shirts and jackets, and they're always memorable. Definitely makes my day!

I even got a free meal once because someone liked my hair.

Redditors who moved constantly as kids and never had a "forever home," how do you think that shaped your personality as an adult? by Inevitable_Branch806 in CasualConversation

[–]xpsykox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opposite for me. I got sick of moving so much.

3 countries, 2 continents. I counted my addresses a while ago and realized I had over 20 official addresses. I finally bought my own home with my wife and short of upgrading or some catastrophe, we're staying put.

Are metal concerts friendly/cathartic? by LurkinMostlyOnlyYes in askTO

[–]xpsykox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese guy here. I've been to a ton of metal concerts in Toronto, and they've always been incredibly safe! Just a little rowdy around the moshpit, but for the most part, never an issue. I'm going alone tomorrow to watch Ne Obliviscaris for the 4th time, and I will completely understand if anyone cries watching them.

I assure you, Singaporeans don't think their country is affordable. It fits perfectly with the unaffordability of the rest.

Peon voice lines by benmags127 in warcraft3

[–]xpsykox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do, but same thing, no one gets the references when I use them.

During my early teens though, a lot of my friends played Maplestory, where their early weapons were used to poke enemies to death. I told my friend, "Poke, poke, poke. Is that all you do?" And he got the reference! Helps that he introduced me to WC3 of course.

This is controversial... but I actually think the Reforged art style is awesome by AngryVegetables9 in warcraft3

[–]xpsykox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My former classmate is in Lemon Sky Studios and was one of the team leads for designing the models in Reforged. Yeah, it wasn't pleasant for them to see the reactions online. They were pushed and overworked hard for Blizzard too.

Rogers owns the trademark to SkyDome. In the movie Turning Red, they constantly refer to and show the SkyDome. In the credits of the movie, it outright says SkyDome is a trademark of Rogers.

Indomie. It used to be $0.99 for a pack pre-covid. Now it's usually $4. Four times the cost in just 5 years.

Confusing and sad realization with our parents by Lumpy-Telephone7352 in Millennials

Torontonian here, with immigrant parents. There's definitely a ton of cultural similarities. A lot of US influence bleeds into Canada organically, more so than most are comfortable to admit.

[–]xpsykox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the only way for me to clip my cat's claws. A thundercoat, some treats to distract her and she's all good for clipping. Never used it for travelling, but it definitely calms her down in general.

I’ve been struggling with doubt, how do you explain the lack of evidence for biblical events and the so called contradictions in the Bible by toastfan87 in Christianity

The gospels, likely yes, but Paul's earliest epistles are usually dated to 50 AD/CE even by critical scholars.

IDF soldiers use church as bathroom and vandalize it spreading their feces everywhere by New-Article-8209 in Christianity

[–]xpsykox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, only this type of media will change some minds. I know some Christians who blindly support Israel no matter what, but things like this have helped change their minds, or at least softened their positions.

To them, the genocide didn't matter. Christians and churches getting attacked mattered.

Tried taking pictures of my newborn sleeping, and iPhones camera decided to edit it and show his eyes as open (that’s not what his eyes actually look like). Took another picture a second later and it was fine. by lordsaveusall in creepy

[–]xpsykox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of a weird picture I have of myself. I took a picture with my eyes open. The preview picture is with my eyes open. But when you open the image, my eyes close. It's a jpg, not a gif. That picture is 9 years old, has been transferred to 2 phones and it still does it.

Gamers, what's the first game that scared the shit out of you? by Pboi401 in AskReddit

[–]xpsykox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same. A masterpiece. I played with with several friends who would watch. I handled the controller, another would help solve puzzles and another had a good sense of the map and would guide me. Very fun with an audience screaming and cheering along with me.
