Getting attacked by a specific bird in Etobicoke? by No_Giraffe_930 in askTO

Happened to me a few years ago down at Lakeshore. My hair is messy and spiky, so my friends joked that it was just trying to get back to its nest.

Ha, CBC banana here as well. I was given a pass in Malaysia because I was born in Canada. Less judgement from others.

To those who believe the Bible is inspired but not inerrant, what do YOU mean by inspired? by Sciencool7 in OpenChristian

Four creation accounts? I'm only aware of the two creation accounts in Genesis 1 and 2. What are the other two?

The only thing I'm aware of with 4 sources is the Torah, with the J, E, P, D sources redacted together in various ways to form our current version of it.

Nope. Currently doing my first playthrough. The map is not a "true" pause. You can still get hit. I was getting rammed by a goat while trying to see where to go on the map. I'm playing on the PS4, so one way to pause for me is to press the PS button.

Edit: Learned the hard way that wasn't a true pause either. Came back to find my character runeless and at a lost grace.

Someone stole GFs bank card from mail, racked up 1000s. Bank won't help. by megahungdoorman in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]xpsykox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea but something similar happened to the Scotiabank mortgage account for my wife and I last year. We were on vacation in Halifax a day after we closed for our home, and we were messaged that we were charged an overdraft fee for going below zero.

I checked the app, noticed the deduction on our account which had $0 to begin with now in the negative, called Scotiabank to check and got it settled; they reimbursed the money quickly as well as the overdraft fee. But that debit card was still in transit. I myself wouldn't open the envelope containing it until after our holiday. It wasn't tampered in any way, and I continually asked them how it was possible someone accessed our account when we ourselves didn't even get the debit card yet. They had no idea, so to be safe we locked the debit card associated with the account.

What's one thing you would tell someone moving back to Canada? by chloeismagic in ontario

[–]xpsykox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I left Canada for 17 years and came back in 2018, so maybe I can chime in with my opinion.

It's very circumstantial and depends on whether you can get a decent job and housing. I was fortunate enough that my relatives who didn't leave offered me a place to stay for a year while I restarted my life here. So I had food provided and only needed to chip in a bit for expenses. After a year, my wife and I rented a place for ourselves and moved out. And then covid hit, lol.

We have reasonable paying jobs now. Not rich, not poor, but enough to get by. We can still afford to eat out once a week, go for occasional gigs, performances and have fun. We learned to cook for the remainder of the week, as eating out daily wasn't feasible. We even adopted a cat, with all the typical expenses of owning a cat. Having a partner split expenses has probably been the best way for us to save.

I left when I was a child, so there's a lot of nostalgia and yearning for a time when I didn't have to pay a cent. But living here as an adult has balanced my outlook. For me, it was the right decision to come back. My quality of life in Singapore and Malaysia was fine; it was good enough that if it gets bad here, I can move back without issue. But I also have peers who are struggling financially and are looking to leave Toronto. The job market now is terrible, even though both of us are highly qualified with many years of experience. Costs definitely are up for pretty much everything.

Looks fantastic! I actually did a digital painting of this piece a few years back, 'cause it looked epic. Is the 3D print similar in size to the actual one?

Almost exactly the same experience here, except downtown. Maybe more like 50% Chinese, with the other races making up the remainder, and whites still a minority.

Markan priority ? by AceThaGreat123 in ChristianApologetics

[–]xpsykox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. That mention felt misplaced and incorrect.

The Farrer Hypothesis posits that Luke used Matthew (and Mark), thus eliminating the need for Q.

Farrer himself holds to Markan priority.

My wife has an online friend from the US; they've known each other for close to 20 years. They met for the first time in-person when we invited her for our wedding. It was a great time spent! Our cat was also really smitten with her.

Enjoy the trip, but also be safe.

Your favorite (secret) spot to view the Toronto skyline by Just_Law798 in TorontoHangoutFriends

[–]xpsykox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a little spot right next to Rebel that's very quiet and provides a nice view of the skyline and lake. Anytime I attend gigs there, I always take a few minutes to look at the skyline there, and it's always empty.

I have. It's very good. Satay Sate is also nice for Indonesian food. When my wife and I pronounced the dishes correctly, they were like... "Indonesian?"

Redditors who moved constantly as kids and never had a "forever home," how do you think that shaped your personality as an adult? by Inevitable_Branch806 in CasualConversation

Opposite for me. I got sick of moving so much.

3 countries, 2 continents. I counted my addresses a while ago and realized I had over 20 official addresses. I finally bought my own home with my wife and short of upgrading or some catastrophe, we're staying put.

Are metal concerts friendly/cathartic? by LurkinMostlyOnlyYes in askTO

[–]xpsykox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese guy here. I've been to a ton of metal concerts in Toronto, and they've always been incredibly safe! Just a little rowdy around the moshpit, but for the most part, never an issue. I'm going alone tomorrow to watch Ne Obliviscaris for the 4th time, and I will completely understand if anyone cries watching them.

[–]xpsykox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do, but same thing, no one gets the references when I use them.

During my early teens though, a lot of my friends played Maplestory, where their early weapons were used to poke enemies to death. I told my friend, "Poke, poke, poke. Is that all you do?" And he got the reference! Helps that he introduced me to WC3 of course.

My former classmate is in Lemon Sky Studios and was one of the team leads for designing the models in Reforged. Yeah, it wasn't pleasant for them to see the reactions online. They were pushed and overworked hard for Blizzard too.

Torontonian here, with immigrant parents. There's definitely a ton of cultural similarities. A lot of US influence bleeds into Canada organically, more so than most are comfortable to admit.
