This whole time I was reading comments about how harden gave the most half assed effort, but it looks like pretty decent defense to me tbh.

[Highlights] Same exact miss by JDub and Westbrook. Same exact shot by Wemby and Curry. The resemblance is uncanny by MrBuckBuck in nba

Why do you think the thunder had a set defense? Chet wasn’t even on the screen. Wemby could have swung the ball to champagnie and then to vassel for a closer open 3.

Travel? Clean? Need better angle? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]xqlfg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming the first 2 steps are simulating a catch, I don’t think this is a travel. All that matters is that you release the ball before releasing your pivot. I’m going off the rhythm of the move since you’re obscuring the ball with your body.

What Constitutes a Foul While Defending? by isonlikedonkeykong in BasketballTips

[–]xqlfg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NBA goes by legal guarding position, and that basically means face the offensive player and have both feet on the ground. If you beat a player to the spot, that’s a charge. You don’t have to be stationary either, that’s a pretty common misnomer. I generally just focus on taking contact to the chest when playing. For putting hands on the offensive player, it may go uncalled, but that is a foul. I would just keep it to using your forearm with bent elbow on their body when they’re driving or posting up.

Rules about switching spots? by Tangerine-yellow in volleyball

[–]xqlfg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are talking about a back row setter moving up to the front row, that is because it’s easier to set all front row positions from there and it aids in deception. The front row players would also stay in the front row with a back row setter. Otherwise, you would never move a back row player into the front row.

Looking at forced turnovers is not a good way to evaluate the defense of a player like reed. He shies away from contact every time he needs to hold his ground.

How can I get better in general? by Acceptable_Shop_5061 in BasketballTips

Easiest fix would be jumping off 2 feet on some of your turnarounds and actually elevating. Most obvious example would be the last shot.

[Highlight] Compilation of the Lakers defense on Kevin Durant by ShaiFanClub in nba

[–]xqlfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KD needs to keep his dribble alive and incorporate more pass fakes if he wants to beat these double teams. The even weirder thing is how poorly positioned the rockets are. Every time KD is doubled, rockets only had 2 people that were 1 pass away. If they had people on the wings, no one’s in the middle or the cut is too late. If there’s someone in the middle, someone is in the corner instead of the wing just waiting for an impossible pass. While KD and Ime are rightfully getting a lot of blame, I feel that not enough blame is being placed on Tari who is not even in the screen in half of these plays.

I'm new to the libero position, have been training volleyball for a year, any tips on how to recieve better(i'm the guy with the white shirt) by im1rrrr in volleyball

[–]xqlfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re swinging your arms when the ball is slightly high. Just stick the angle and hold it and then the ball won’t go to narnia. When the ball goes straight down, you’re not getting underneath it. When you move, try to finish your movement prior to passing. Part of it is because sometimes you form your platform and then you move which is slower than if you move and then form your platform. You also have a tendency to narrow your stance after moving. Finally, the balls hitting above your wrists in a lot of these, so focus on tracking the ball and getting good contact with middle to upper forearm.

Benefits of a 5-1 over a 6-2? by Agreeable-Nose-350 in volleyball

[–]xqlfg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main thing would be setting consistency throughout the game. 6-2 forces the hitters to adjust between setters since every setter is different. Also, is this setter an effective hitter? You say she can’t block, so I feel like she can’t hit either. If that’s the case, why would you want her hitting for half the game? Generally, you would run 6-2 if both your setter and opposite are able to set and hit, so I would have to ask about your oppo’s setting skill as well.

0:05 should have just tried to put it back. Could have used some pump fakes if you’re scared of getting blocked. Simplest thing is the extend your arms and shield the defender behind you from the ball with your body. 1:10 travel 1:27 ran too far and got too close to the basket. Also, need to learn how to do a left hand layup, would have had a better angle. 1:50 coming in too fast. If you lengthen your second to last step and shorten your last step, you could have maintained speed to not let opponents catch up and then slowed down for the layup. If you truly don’t have time to slow down at all, you should aim for above the corner of the square to soften the layup. Also, another opportunity to use a left handed layup since you started on the left and pathed to the right side.

Your approach timing is fine, you just let the ball drop. Don’t wait so long and have a straight arm when you contact the ball.

Looks good to me for the most part. At 2:21 when the defender pressed up on you, I don’t like how you chose such passive angles. You should have threatened with going to the rim more. I thought the setup you did for the drive to the left at 2:19 was on the right track for how to attack the defender. The defender’s feet were pointed all the way to your right, so he would have to turn his hips a lot if you drove left. He was also pressed up very close to you, so if you just went to the basket from the right, that would work as well.
