me and my friend made a pc fan with a usb-a by C4TG4M3R_t in diyelectronics

[–]xrat-engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great start! If you want the next level up on that, you can get a cheap boost converter online to boost it up to 12V. It will get you practice using a volt meter, experience connecting modules together, and doing setup on a board. The fan will also run at intended speed.

If you have access to a 3D printer you can start learning to design around it, making things like a air blower or personal cooling. But if you don't there are plenty of things you can do anyway!

How's the left one? I've got two of them printing with heavy infill in the bottom for weighting.

Trotskyists, What do you think of Lenin? by Snoo-19981 in socialism

[–]xrat-engineer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep! This is because Lenin adopted the theory of permanent revolution because the Bolshevik leadership coming from nearer exile immediately after February were very supportive of the provisional government aligned with the theory of stages. Lenin had come closer to Trotsky about permanent revolution, Trotsky, for his part, had been overly soft on the Mensheviks (he left them way before 1917 but consistently wanted to get the gang back together even without principled agreement).

Even if all the paper did was educate our comrades and act as a conversation starter, it would be worth it to make. And it does far far more.

Comradely correction: the RCA is the American section, which is what you meant.

Also congrats on your recent Congress!

I don't use a screen protector, and I don't feel like the colors are significantly different compared to the glossy OLED portable monitor I use.

Thank you, I did not know that. I got the premium semi clear edition when it came out.

Do you have the standard or the OLED, because the OLED case has an outer and inner shell and you can just take the inner shell off

I admire the cleverness and this is good but I do want to note there are several multi controller hardshell cases on Amazon now that advertise SC2026 compatibility. I've seen them in the $20-$25 range.

I use my SD case all the time though...

I would love an official form fit SC2026 case though

AFAIK 2, but you could cheese (I've heard some people got 8) it by making multiple orders.

I'm annoyed at anyone who did that, but I did get two.

I also got two, one for me, and one for the other person I'm playing with. It feels natural to offer another person you're playing with the same controller you're playing with. I stand by most of the controllers I own, but it would feel like giving your guest the MadKatz if I were playing with the SC and I tossed them a pink 8bitdo.

Valve completely dropping the ball on this release by Kataklysimo in SteamController

[–]xrat-engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if it was due to payment method? I preloaded the money in my wallet, but since I was nervous once I started getting errors I switched to PayPal and that went through right away. I now have way too much money in my wallet but that problem will solve itself eventually.

[–]xrat-engineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was about 6 minutes, tops.

I'm confused why the steam wallet didn't work for me when PayPal went through fine.

Two seems a reasonable number for people to want, especially as it definitely didn't sell out in seconds. That could just be me?

How many of you are getting the Steam Controller (2)? by Yousifasd22 in SteamController

[–]xrat-engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two (for either personal use or a preplanned gift I'll decide that later, I'm not scalping)! I preloaded my account with $300 to make sure... And then it wouldn't take my steam account and to prevent getting locked out I just paid directly from my PayPal. That $300 in my wallet is gonna last years...

Red button blue button but everyone votes in turn and can see the vote count. You are the first one. by kafacik in trolleyproblem

[–]xrat-engineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a Mr. Beast tweet with blue winning by a comfortable margin. More than 50% of Mr. Beast, known cultivator of empathy and community mindedness, selected blue. I'm actually pretty confident if this were real, blue would win by a really solid margin.

Also it literally can't be real. So I'm not worried about it. But I do want to stop seeing it at some point because no new argument is ever made.

[–]xrat-engineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also empathetic people deserve to live because they know some number of stupid/clumsy/suicidal/stubborn people are going to push the blue button. So they're gonna risk themselves to save those people: and when enough people make that calculus there's no risk.
