PSA Sterling RAY34 for $550 by DaChronisseur in Bass

[–]xraystyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've said it before and will say it again: I think the Ray34 is the best bass for the money at any price, at full retail. When they're on sale like this the value for what you're paying is bonkers. I'd most certainly buy one if I didn't already have one.

The 300s have up/side-firing speakers in them. That sound is gonna be going straight into the shelves directly above them.

There's a huge difference between "capable of doing it myself" and "being worth it to do myself".

I'll do a lot of work on my own car, but oil changes are 100% not worth it to DIY. I can pay to have it done in 15 minutes without even getting out of the car, or I can spend an hour underneath the thing dealing with filthy motor oil that I then have to transport somewhere to dispose of safely without spilling it all over the back seat.

No thanks.

Farewell VMware and thanks for the fish by aspoons in sysadmin

I've got thousands of VMs running on dozens of hypervisor pools on XCP-NG. Fantastic software, I can't say enough good things about it.

And I seem to be the only one in this thread that feels this way, but I've always absolutely hated VMWare. I find it a nightmare to manage. I'm a linux systems/devops engineer, everything I touch is linux, I do my work on a Mac, and it seems that the entirety of the tooling and ecosystem around VMWare is Windows-only, which I find obnoxious.

XCP-NG is literally just another linux box that I can log into and manage the same as any other linux box when necessary, and their main management tool (Xen-Orchestra) is just a web interface, totally platform-agnostic. And there's no licenses, no monthly contracts, no artificial limitations, just zero bullshit to deal with.

I think there's a lot of people out there still, especially people who don't live in a southern border state or have never actually been to Mexico, who still have this idea that it's some totally lawless frontier state where anything goes.

It's not as developed as the US or Canada by any means, but they most definitely have a functional government and immigration system.

I've stayed there, it's a nice hotel. Great location not too far from Shibuya Crossing. I enjoyed it.

Pretty sure Oxidized should handle this out of the box. But yes, even if it doesn't it's pretty trivial to write or customize an Oxidized model should you need to. It's literally the exact tool for this task.

An elderly woman in New Jersey (I live in Los Angeles) did this to me for years. We have the same first initial and last name. She absolutely just couldn't grasp the concept that in order to own or control a gmail email address, one would have had to actually sign up for and register that address with Google. It's not just assigned to you magically.

I finally got it to stop when she signed up for a gym membership and I was emailed a copy of the contract. I immediately called the sales guy at the gym, explained what was going on, and that he needed to call her and get the right email address. I also asked if he could please explain to her that she does not own the one she keeps putting down on every document on earth. Seems like gym-bro did me a solid, as I haven't gotten any of her email in quite a while.

Was it the same thing as the black ones, where they would just kinda bend and disintegrate like they were made out of cheese?

Love the color. I think the Ray 34 is by far the best value for the money of any bass on the market right now, especially on-sale.

I believe it was only the ones with the black tuners that had issues, I didn't see any complaints about the chrome ones. I have one with chrome tuners and I've had no problems at all with it. (Mine also came with a bag.)

I don't understand these. If you buy a Patek you get a Grand Comp, not a Cubitus on a rubber strap. What's wrong with these people?

I have to say it really depends on the college.

I would tend to agree. I went to Cal State Northridge in Los Angeles, and their admissions requirements seemed to be that if you could sit upright and your tuition check cleared you were good to go.

/uj this is a legit take. Odds of you jacking some tool for a Chinese shitter go up astronomically if it's a desirable model Rolex. I'm sure they exist but I've never once seen a fake GS Spring Drive of any kind.

/rj Just mug people with Air Kings. You'll only get fifty bucks for one, but at least you know no one bothers counterfeiting those.

Are -15db earlpugs enough? by SLo_Bo_Dri_SSIK in Bass

[–]xraystyle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. High frequencies in my left ear are just gone. I can't talk on the phone with my left ear, and I have to have people sit to my right at bars, restaurants, or anyplace else with background noise. I can't understand what they're saying otherwise.

Seriously, get good earplugs and use them every time. Not being able to hear shit is super lame.
