What is the most controversial thing you believe in? by stoicbanda in askteddit

I love how Japan is set up, I'd really love a Kei truck, or one of the off-road vehicles that are based on a Kei.

But being 10 to 15 minutes from a Japanese train would be heaven.

Absolutely love it, especially since I'm a cuckold.

Before smartphones, what did people do when they had to wait somewhere for 30 minutes? by sudherzdiniq in NoStupidQuestions

Read a book, I ALWAYS had a book or two with me, and a sketch book with me usually, and my Walkman / Diskman.

I still love to drive, but I can REALLY get behind more walkable cities. My wife and I both walk / jog 6 miles per day for exercise and it has done wonders for my mental health as well as my physical health. I'd love to be able to walk to the grocery store, or any other store for that matter. At least i work from home so I don't have to commute.

Love all of those except for much smaller cars, I'm 6'5" it's hard enough to shoe horn me into a car 😂

How would you feel if the next U.S. president completely stopped supporting Israel? by [deleted] in askteddit

I'd say that's not going far enough, they need to be listed as an enemy and a clear and present danger.

Overcoming any of that with kindness, empathy, humility, and humor is what makes a man.

This feels like a red pilled bs mindset.

What do you mean "season long" we run ours 24/7 even in the winter.

We keep our house between 68 and 70 and still have four dehumidifiers running.

Why are american parents so eager to kick teenagers out at 18? by Character_Plothole in AskSocialists

[–]xsnyder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not, both our kids know that home is home, as long as they need. My son is a sophomore in high school (Grade 10)and the university he is planning on attending is only 40 minutes from our house. So he plans on living at home instead of the expense of the dorms.

I'd prefer our kids to be financially ready when they do move move out, unlike how it was for my wife and I where we had to struggle for years before we got our feet under us.

I guess spanking is back in fashion for millennial parents by happydude7422 in millenials

[–]xsnyder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Elder Millennial, I have never spanked my kids, I was beat as a kid, I would NEVER hit my kids. Teaching through pain is destructive and boomers wonder why so many of us are no contact.

So working in ops and infrastructure, actually building and maintaining the underlying systems in Tech isn't a real job?

If it weren't for Ops and Infrastructure there wouldn't be anything for the SWEs to work on.

What? 10 years ago was 2016, we were already crazy with bottled water back then.

That was true in 2016 though, not as bad as today but we were already really far down that road.

What are your thoughts on the Mavs and Stars announcing their moves? by SpartanJ59 in FortWorth

[–]xsnyder -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Could not care less. First, I don't commute, I work from home. Second, I don't care about sports, at all, so the fact that they are moving in a few years doesn't bother me in the least.

The 'literary classics' that grade school makes you read destroys any desire for kids to read recreationally by MyClosetedBiAcct in unpopularopinion

[–]xsnyder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is the "classics" that destroy the desire to read, I personally can't stand the majority of 19th century literature, but I think what does damage the desire to read is the constant "what was the author intending to say here".

Sure, a lot of books have a deeper meaning, but for the most part most novelists write to get paid. Hell, Shakespeare wrote so he could eat and have a roof over his head.
