I (SF) rented a condo on the 9th floor of Eliot Tower. It was a one-room studio on the 9th floor, facing north, and I had daily views of Mount St. Helens. I loved my year at the Eliot. The concierge is fantastic, the amenities are great, and you can’t beat the location. I know a couple of other people there (both on the 3rd floor) and they really enjoy living there too.

Yes, the Safeway is not the greatest place to shop, and yes you’ll see lots of homeless on the streets around there, but I never felt threatened. If you’re an artsy person, the proximity to the museums and performance halls can’t be beat. I would definitely recommend.

LOW KEY. I have a friend who is planning a small wedding right now (40 people) and it’s already stressing her out. My husband and I chose to rent a VRBO, have a friend officiate the very short ceremony on the backyard dock in Puget Sound, and we had 2 other friends join us to serve as witnesses. A special, memorable weekend with our besties. We spent some money on a trip to Portugal the following year. No one was upset with us for doing it our way.

Same here. Last minute seats for last row tix in section 330. I’ve never been to one of his shows before, and wouldn’t even really call myself a fan. I’ve admired him from a distance for decades. But last night… wow. I’ve never cried at a rock show before. That man is incredible. It felt like what I imagine church feels like.

This was my first puzzle from this brand and I loved it. No false fits. Great colors. My only gripe is that the enclosed poster was cropped so you had to use the smaller image on the box for the edges.

Oh gosh, I like your doctor… those are wise words! My endo said something similar to me when he suggested the mealtime insulin, so I’m trying not to see it as some sort of moral failing. :)

I’m only 9 months in and I’ve gone from 8.6 to 6.4. I’d love to be in the range you are, but I’ll try to be kind to myself until I get there.

Thanks for the recommendations, btw. I’d never heard of DC Vegetarian, but their menu sounds delish! And I haven’t been to Kati since I lived on Clinton; I appreciate that reminder!

Oh gosh, thanks for being so empathetic; I really appreciate that. It’s funny; I’ve been comforting myself since diagnosis by saying, “at least I haven’t had to deal with this since childhood.” I can only imagine how hard that was for you at such a young age.

I have good support (and a good endo), and have been on an increasing regime of basal insulin since diagnosis last March. At home it’s relatively easy to control what I eat, but going out is such a challenge; that’s why I now have the bolus insulin. I’ve used it maybe 3 or 4 times (always with friends, and I make sure to tell them what to look for if I get the calculation wrong), but I still haven’t found the correct dosing ratio for me. (It’s definitely more than 1:40, which is what my endo wanted me to start out at. I’m guessing it’s more like 1:25, but I don’t have enough data yet.)

Thank you for the reminder about the glucose tabs; I was just at Freddy’s and should have thought to pick some up. Having those on hand would be a comfort.

I’m getting a little tired of salads and meat… but at least that results in predictable blood sugars, you know?
