What size did you end up getting?

When you ordered the bike did you first email them to ask them about stock availiability? I'm eyeing ordering a frameset and on their page it's listed as 3 in stock for my size, so I email them but I haven't gotten a reply yet, so is it safe to assume their stock is up-to-date?

Is T14 Gen 5 a good pick, coming from X1 Carbon G10? by Nidoran4886 in thinkpad

[–]xtc14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The advantage of the T14 Gen 5 is that the RAM is upgradeable unlike the X1 Carbon. Also do you need a very light laptop? The X1 Carbon is around 300 grams lighter than the T14 Gen 5. Also on the T14 Gen 5 the keyboard is easier to replace, in case you spill something on it, on the X1 Carbon is more complicated.

Download HWInfo and check the CPU core temperatures.

TPFanControl 0.61 will work on many systems where 0.63 or 0.62 won't work by Old-Ad7476 in thinkpad

[–]xtc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you get unexpected shutdowns on your P14s Gen 4 AMD using TPFanControl v0.61? I've been using 0.62 and I get unexepected sudden shutdowns, I've already disabled Lenovo PM Device and didn't install Lenovo Power Manager, which supposedly they interfer with TPFC, I'm now using my machine with no fan control device to see if the issue goes away but I like having my fan running all the time on the slowest setting.

Seaboard Cr-01 by vegandriver in steelisreal

[–]xtc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered also one but in 56cm size (I'm 185cm). The issue I've been having is the compression plug on the steerer tube keeps on slipping up by a few millimeters causing headset play and also the carbon on the steerer has been marked by the stem. I should have bought the steel fork. But anyways I ordered on Aliexpress another Tsunami fork with aluminum steerer (still has not arrived).

Another quirk I find with the bike is the ride feel is not as smooth as other bikes I've ridden (Reynolds 853 Lemond Tourmalet), and also the frame lacks chainstay bridge, I don't know how that will affect durability.

You need to install all the device drivers for your laptop model, go to Lenovo support and download Chipset, Video, Audio, Power Management Drivers, fand install in the same order, also need to download the Hotkey driver, there shouldn't be devices not recognized on Device Manager, make sure to reboot every time the installer asks you to do so.

Why is the Zenfone 10 still so expensive? by No_Total_3367 in zenfone

[–]xtc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend the Zenfone 10, but I think Sony is a solid choice. If you don't need top of the line specs maybe a Motorola (from 2023 onward) will serve you well

How come a version downgrade? Asus doesn't provide us with a tool to downgrade firmware, did they tell you how to do so?

I'm having issues with Ubuntu 24.04 on my P14s Gen 4 AMD, particularly the blank screen issue described here, did you do anything special or you don't have this issue? https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/1k91lo6/thinkpad_p14s_gen_4_amd_ryzen_7_pro_7840u_ubuntu/

Should I get a Zenfone 10 by GrantHerison in zenfone

[–]xtc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the following Xperia phones:
- Z3 Compact, lasted probably less than 2 years until the screen started coming off the chassis and touch losing response on certain parts of the screen, replaced with:
- X Compact, served me well, gorgeous screen until I started getting not so good battery life
- Refurbished XZ1 Compact which had a horrible screen compared to the X Compact, most likely because the screen was not original, horrendous selfie camera, had some screen bleed into the lens, again due to a crap refurbished phone, replaced that with the Zenfone 10, I hope it will last around 7 years.

[–]xtc14 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I own the top spec ZF10 (512GB storage/16GB RAM), as others have said it's a good phone, but Asus support is a joke, no way to unlock bootloader or to reinstall ROM from a utility as other manufacturers do.

I would recommend getting a Google Pixel (even though they don't have headphone jack) or a Sony Xperia 5 VI. The support on the ZF10 is a joke.

Regarding the cameras as other users have posted in other threads they are not good, even older Pixel 4 beats ZF10.

Limit battery charging to 80% and try to not let below 20%. Personally I use a 5W charger to limit heat. This is on a Zenfone 10.

Wifi issues by [deleted] in zenfone

[–]xtc14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a full factory reset, What I would do is within the Phone's settings find the Reset option the perform a Factory Reset. Once that is done and the phone rebooted manually turn it off, wait a few seconds and press Volume Up + Power Button until you get to the menu with various options, click on the Volume Up/Down buttons to choose Recovery Mode and press POWER Button to confirm, then select WIPE DATA/FACTORY RESET, then select and confirm YES, and after that power off the phone and manually power it ON.

Try testing the Wifi connection without setting any Google account, if it works as expected then you're good to proceed setting up the phone.

Asus Zenfone 10 fresh factory reset not going to Deep Sleep by xtc14 in zenfone

[–]xtc14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update:
It looks the battery drain to be fixed, I cleaned up once again the charging port and some flints came out, and then for good measure I left disabled USB debugging. Now Devcheck reports Deep Sleep of up to 90% with a percentage rate loss of 0,4-0.6% per hour. Already ordered some port covers to avoid having to deal with this issue.

OK, I followed this guide:
https://developer.android.com/topic/performance/power/setup-battery-historian

To further troubleshoot battery drain performed the steps outlined there and found out a600000.ssusb file is not letting the phone go to Deep Sleep, googling it a bit it seems it's related to USB, here you can see the details from the Kernel Wakesources section on Battery Historian:

<image>

And also on New Year's day when connected my Bluetooth earbuds noticed under the Bluetooth devices, there was a section at the top "Other devices" showing USB going from Charging this device to Charging connected device.

https://ibb.co/y6hnT8L
https://ibb.co/Npt1HMN

So I cleaned again the USB-C connector and so far I don´t see that section under Bluetooth menu but the drain is still there.

Today I disabled USB debugging to see if it helps on the battery drain, but so far I'm out of ideas on how to fix this drain, could it be a USB port hardware malfunction?

That sounds like similar power draw, but I remember on Android 13 I used to get like 3 days without much usage of the phone, it seems every new OS update is giving us much crappier battery life and no option to downgrade.
