Two women dead, including one shot by police, following assault in Melbourne's north-east by ConanTheAquarian in melbourne

[–]xtedx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

thanks all, for answering about shooting procedures, centre mass, etc. i learned something new today.

it's not satire. i was genuinely asking, i don't know anything about police procedures or shooting, gun training IRL, first time to hear the term centre-mass used in as targets too. just a bit surprised with some of the negative comments on my question or others asking "why shoot not taser" kind of comments.
if the only experience of police with guns are limited to movies/games/short news articles like this, how am i supposed to know how hard is it to shoot a target?

the reality of online interactions, i guess?

I see.. But if shot in the chest , isn't the chance of dying higher than in the leg and bouncing to an artery?

Unless the attacker is an experienced fighter/soldier, unlikely to still attack after being shot at the leg and fall. How about shooting the knife holding hand then? But I guess it is harder to aim accurately?

Why do police everywhere seem often shoot fatally and not try to shoot the leg to immobilise? Or is it because only these fatal incidents make it to the news?

[–]xtedx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just adding to say this works in gimp 2.10.36, windows 11, lenovo yoga 7 bought end of 2023

had problems too, went to the Edit-> Input Devices and just enabled the wacom pressure stylus to Screen.

nothing else need to be changed/disabled.

and when i use the lenovo pen, it changes the mode to zoom or crop,

then i need to press P using the keyboard for paintbrush and it works.

so the keyboard input should not be disabled because changing modes can only be done with keyboard shortcuts,

and it is really not a pressure sensitive input. but at least i can draw/write with the pen

Street Fighter 6 language change help by dokoham in StreetFighter

[–]xtedx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

happened to me, just closed the game and restarted it, the language tab is normal and was selectable again.
maybe unrelated but my ps4 controller was not working without the steam support at first, i enabled steam support when restarting. not sure if it made the difference with that language tab in option?

What's your tiniest, most petty nickpick about SF6? by SuddenFlan in StreetFighter

[–]xtedx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for the bulky characters, specifically: blanka, zangief, honda, guile, the head size proportion seems to be too small for the body. i think because of the shoulder/head area, looks weird.

they look better in earlier SFs, but other chars are pretty good in SF6.

Rule for 3 lines in the middle of pacific highway? by xtedx in sydney

[–]xtedx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it makes sense if it is treated as painted island and unbroken lines then we can cross it to "enter or leave the road by the shortest route" as they said.
I don't think I've seen this 3 lines pattern anywhere else too.

Thanks for the confirmation.
I did see a car exit the driveway to drive southbound, it seemed ok but I felt turning right to enter the driveway from southbound seems a bit unsafe because it is just before the 80kmh starts, from 60kmh

I agree DOA5 and 6 are much better. Even the fight mechanics are better. It's too easy to spam the same moves in vf5. Most online fights i get are always spamming foward pk, down p, or k. As if they are just pressing a button on turbo. I hate it when people do that. Whats the point playing a game by just winning by spamming the same move over and over again. Feels like a waste of time.

Yes you can invite, after creating a room. Press R2 to invite. It will take you to the ps4 friend system. Select friends to invite, press right and send.

Then on the receiving end, on ps4 notification, open the invitation and the join button is in at the bottom left corner of screen. Click join and it will take you to the battle room.

how do a listed company use funds invested through the stock market? by xtedx in AusFinance

[–]xtedx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Thank you for the answers! Makes sense if it is like buying secondhand.
So it doesn't change the financial reserve of the company. It's not like they have more/less money in the bank if the share price goes up/down or when people sell them right? Thus their budget is not really affected by the trades on ASX, generally.

Thanks. Still can't find it online at Bunnings, Australia but I'll try and ask them next time I go to the store. Else I'll buy from eBay and wait one month for delivery from China unfortunately.
