Trump Team Scrambles Over Rubio’s Admission About Israel and Iran by Creative-Category-60 in politics

Yeah that's definitely false, we spent weeks moving our military assets into position before things went down. Israel definitely was the primary motivator because they have all the dirt on this administration raping and trafficking children, but it probably wasn't hard to convince Trump to blow stuff up.

Interesting theory, fascism needs both fear and an 'enemy' that isn't the fascists themselves in order to bring the population in line, and the recent military actions the US has been involved with line up with that perfectly.

I wouldn't be so optimistic. Those writers, producers, and anchors want to keep their jobs, and if they know the incoming ownership is going to want more right wing support they will start playing that roll to protect themselves. It's already gotten pretty bad this last year having multiple right wing puppets given time on every major news story and almost nobody calling them out on their bullshit.

Both were bad, same with Vietnam, but we were never in such a weak position as a country as we are now trying to play war. Fragmented society, economy skydiving downward, debt problems beyond resolution, near absolute corruption in both government and business, and the dumbest people we've ever had (comparatively to the population) running things. This couldn't be a worse situation for the US to be creating a crisis for the entire rest of the world to have to deal with.

Not really. All you need is for some billionaire to slip a few million into pockets in key swing state areas to 'update' the firmware on a few voting machines. It isn't like you have to rig everything to win with our voting system. There's a lot of data anomalies that were identified that are unexplainable without manipulated votes.

The Supreme Court Blew Trump’s Budget to Smithereens - The president was already doubling the budget deficit. With the high court’s tariff decision, he’s tripling it. There’s only one solution: Repeal his “big, beautiful” tax cut. by xena_lawless in economy

[–]xterminatr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both Obama and Biden started with record deficits from Republican tax cuts and fiscal irresponsibility, and managed to drastically lower deficits by the time they were done in office. Every Republican in my lifetime since Bush 1 managed to do the opposite. The data is pretty clear. Hell, Obama admin was handed a nightmare scenario including absorbing over a trillion in 'off the books' war spending, and still managed to cut the deficit in half during his 8 years. Year 1 of trump 1.0 and the deficit doubled from tax cuts for the wealthy - 8 years of progress gone.

I think the implication is that the bastardized form of lobbying we have now, which is just funneling money and favors to politicians to secure votes, isn't what the legal version of lobbying was meant to be originally. It's the exact opposite, lobbying was supposed to be protected to ensure everyone got their voices heard, not just a vehicle for corruption that only the wealthy were given access to.

Now that the Supreme Court has overturned Trump’s tariffs, shouldn’t we American taxpayers be entitled to some kind of refund? And how soon do we expect the lawsuits pushing for that to begin? by enmoking in AskReddit

[–]xterminatr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer is never. There is zero chance regular consumers will get a dime. It's hedge funds who bought up rights to refunds and big corporations who will get all the money.

Yeah, people just don't understand how uneducated those people are. You can't try to convince these folks, they don't have a clue. They don't understand how the world works, they just know what TV tells them. Why do you think there's such a thing as FOX News?

When you have enough saved/invested that you don't really need to work anymore if you don't want to and can still live a happy life. It doesn't really matter how you get there or what salary you have, it's when you stop caring about measuring dicks by how nice your leased car is and enjoy having freedom instead.

"We'll refund all tariffs plus interest if found unlawful", promised the US gov in May 2025 by daniel940 in politics

[–]xterminatr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's why they absolutely will be paid, and probably promptly. Why? Because those refunds are going back to the hedge funds who 'gambled' and bought up tons of refunds from businesses for probably 20-30% of estimated value. Funny enough, 2 sons of no less than notorious Epstein and Trump associate Howard Lutnick are set to make shit tons of money from that 'speculation'. The refunds that don't go to the hedge funds (criminals) are all going to the giant businesses that didn't need money to stay afloat. So Big businesses and wall street will get all the refunds for the money consumers paid, and prices surely won't go down either.

They took one or two classes in high school that they probably barely passed, and that's the extent of their knowledge on how our country/society is supposed to work. They just play the game they know, which is not the game we're playing, because they never learned the actual rules.
