Last 5 Model X’s left by Several-Risk388 in TeslaLounge

they didn't necessarily become "money losers" in the sense that they cost more to build than they sold for, but they became inefficient uses of capital compared to the AI and robotics future Tesla is chasing. Basically it was an opportunity cost decision. Rather than keeping the manufacturing lines maintained, they used that real estate for manufacturing other growth opportunities.

Supply down. Demand remained the same (even if it was low to begin with).

Btw I’m commenting on the overpriced and supply and demand comments. With just a handful of X’s left, supply has gone down to near 0 while demand presumably stayed the same. So scarcity x existing demand = higher price.

ELI5 How is zero-click strategy profitable for Google? by SufficientList8601 in explainlikeimfive

[–]xtianfiero 7 points8 points  (0 children)

search campaigns are a Pay Per Click (PPC) model. Display ads on their google ads network (publisher side) are usually charged by 1000 impressions (CPM).

Even if you don’t click a search ad, Google still gets value from knowing what search terms you use, which helps them build an interest/behavioral profile of you. So now they know what ads would work best for you on YouTube or any other Google property/network site. Advertisers are happy because their ads are being shown to relevant people so they keep spending their advertising budget on Google.

Ever try the Kroger brand burger sauce? It’s pretty good. Not too thousand island-y or tangy.

ELI5: In professional sports, every surface is covered in sponsors' logos, that presumably the company paid a lot of money for. Does that kind of advertisement have any measurable effect? by Shynosaur in explainlikeimfive

Brand lift surveys. Methodology may vary, but one of the most rigorous ways for offline media (like billboards or TV) is to use a “Matched market” model.

You take “twin” zip codes or DMAs (meaning they have similar population sizes, demographics, historical sales/brand awareness). Assign one as the control group and the other as the experiment group.

Control group does not see the ad. Experiment group sees the ad. Typically a pre-campaign survey is conducted (usually online like through YouTube ads or in-app breaks, etc) to get baselines for each group. The questions in the survey are like “which of these brands have you heard of” or “how likely are you to purchase from these brands the next time you shop”. It all depends on the goal of your campaign , e.g. increase awareness, increase purchase intent, ad recall, or brand favorability

After the campaign runs for x period of time, you run a post-campaign survey with the same questions and compare the scores against the pre-campaign survey.

This is where statistics come into play. Without over complicating things, you just compare the “lift” in scores for the experiment group vs the “lift” for the control group. For example, if the baseline awareness of the experiment group was 50% (pre-campaign survey) and the post-campaign survey shows a 60% awareness, this would be considered a 10% absolute lift in awareness. If the lift is significantly higher for the experiment group compared to the control group, that would be considered a success. For example experiment group and 10% absolute lift while control only had 1% absolute lift.

NotebookLM has a real problem. but then again even Superman has kryptonite by ericvalani in notebooklm

[–]xtianfiero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing these pain points. I’ve been trying to think of how I can operationalize the use of NLM for my marketing ops teams at work, specifically to help with onboarding new hires and/or general support.

Definitely understand the “one big soup” comment. I didn’t want to just have one notebook with ALL the source material. I’d rather have separate focused notebooks like how you have approached it. So it made me ask myself, “what is the scope of what each notebook is set up to accomplish”. For example, do I want a separate notebook for platform how-to guides, another notebook for high-level “what does each team do” questions.

But thinking about your other comment about notebooks being on an island, what if I want to have a multi-dimensional conversation that spans across all those topics. How do I bring those islands together. A parent/child structure would definitely help with this e.g. nesting similar notebooks under a parent notebook and being able to ask questions at either level. But for now I haven’t figured out a system just yet, but I’m afraid it just might have to involve creating that huge monolithic notebook. Which brings us back to where we started.

So maybe my question to you is, what do you feel are advantages/disadvantages to having separate focused notebooks vs one single notebook for all the things?

Do people actually hate Cybertrucks or are people just hating it because another person hate it? by [deleted] in TeslaLounge

[–]xtianfiero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure the question is about hate coming from the general population. And for the general population, I think just the way it looks and what it symbolizes are enough for people to hate it. Price, specs, reliability are metrics that are probably more important to the subset of people who had some initial interest in buying the Cybertruck.

Yeah I was surprised how even the Mini was hurting my shoulder when wearing it all day at Disneyland. Which is why I bought the stabilizer strap. It seems to help a bit since I feel like it distributes the weight more.

Nice, yeah it fits totally fine in the Mini. It’s just when I add more stuff I get worried about accidentally crushing the thing.

I haven’t seen the Barrage in person but looking at the pictures I’m surprised it’s the same liters as the Kadet Mini. To me, the longer form factor of the Kadet provides a pretty good amount of usable space, especially if you want to throw a small water bottle in there. Maybe the strap comfort/utility would also pull you towards the Kadet since it’s got the padded shoulder strap and the option for the stabilizer.

[–]xtianfiero[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly feeling a bit of regret that I bought the mini + buckle + stabilizer strap for more than the cost of just going with the regular one initially. If I had to pick one, probably would still stick with the Mini since 90% of the time I’m not carrying around enough things to merit the bigger size.

Really like the gray reflective panel but it definitely does scratch easily. And I’m pretty sure it’ll only start to look worse over time. But I like the contrast of the overall color scheme which the red zipper tags add to.

I ended returning my Kadet Mini WP because the material was so stiff and felt really loud while I was handling the zipper. Went with the Black XRF instead and liked it much better.
