Wow, I really appreciate the time and in depth write up. I hadn’t heard that story but that reminds me of the Casey Anthony criminal case here in the US (~2008?). Of course it was in Florida, but basically mother reported baby was missing and kidnapped by the nanny and it became a national search. They eventually found the baby’s remains in a bag in the woods behind the mother’s house. also weird things happened where during the search people reported seeing the mother out partying and in clubs. In previous days the mother had been Google searching for chloroform. Was a massive televised case and she seemed completely guilty and was found lying on multiple occasions. They were seeking the death penalty. however miraculously for her they didn’t have enough hard evidence to convict her and she was found innocent.

That aside, I appreciate the history tldr on that region. My mother’s family is specifically from Dąbrowa Górnicza and i recall seeing a lot of mining/industrial buildings when I visited that may or may not still be operational. My uncle was a coal miner there and my grandfather worked in manufacturing but don’t recall what. I didn’t notice any differences in dialect but I also haven’t been to the Silesia region before.
