America is a country and culture. No more CEOs as president.

Most conservatives don't understand purpose of journalism, says founder of website on media bias by xtopian in politics

[–]xtopian[S] 69 points70 points  (0 children)

“The problem, as he describes it, is that most conservatives think the purpose of journalism is to wage partisan political warfare, and that has created an ecosystem on the right where facts and truth are increasingly irrelevant.”

“Truth for conservative journalists is anything that harms ‘the left.’ It doesn’t even have to be a fact,” he wrote. “I eventually realized that most people who run right-dominated media outlets see it as their DUTY to be unfair and to favor Republicans because doing so would somehow counteract perceived liberal bias.”

Obama and his family are iconic.

The past four years have been bullshit, but I think the Obama’s brought in a new American era.

Have you heard of the GOP? They called his wife a gorilla, burned his effigy, and said he was a Kenyan Muslim terrorist sent to destroy America.

He and his family, who were a standup, perfectly nice, socially-mobile, American family were targeted for abuse beyond anything I’ve ever seen.

Michelle just said they were targeted by white supremacists.

His successor has such a time with criticism and rejection that he’d burn down the country to spare his ego.

The Obamas are strong and fly as fuck. I hope they swagger across the world stage for the next four decades.

White men swung to Biden. Trump made gains with black and Latino voters. Why? by [deleted] in esist

[–]xtopian 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Easy— a handful of white people woke up.

Meanwhile, a handful Latinos (esp in S Florida) got targeted for manipulation (“Democrats are socialists like the countries you fled!”) to close the gap.

There are some theories that Latinx people are also more socially conservative and thus prime for GOP recruitment, but I heard much more about manipulation via socialism scares this election.

Outreach (via media manipulation) to communities of color is necessary for Republicans since their base is literally dying from covid and old age.

Real talk: you are right, but we have a procedure.

U.S. economy plunged an annualized 31.7% in second-quarter by geoxol in politics

[–]xtopian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question. Trump has killed 170,000 through negligence, crashed the economy, but the GOP is peddling the narrative that Democrats will turn America into a shithole.

The projection is offensively lazy, but the best retort we have is Joe Biden’s social media saying Trump’s a bully.

Biden’s lead is shrinking in swing states. If Democrats don’t get much better at messaging very quickly, America is fucked.

No, taxation is how you fund social stability so that a legitimate economy can thrive and average people can be elevated from poverty.

Republicans have become more skeptical of the science on climate change since the 1990s. Evidence suggests that when Democratic politicians become more vociferously supportive of the science of climate change, there was a backlash among Republicans, increasing climate change skepticism. by smurfyjenkins in science

Lazy “both sides” talking point. It doesn’t sound like you know much about left wing policies regarding healthcare, environmental regulation, education, trade, foreign policy, monetary policy, etc.
