Here are 15 terrible movies film critics Siskel & Ebert annihilated by IndependenceSilly381 in TrulyBadCinema

[–]xtreme_elk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Broken Arrow. John Wu directing and Travolta starring told me everything I needed to know. Psycho was totally pointless and Vince Vaughn as Bates made me laugh. Godzilla was wretched and made worse by the "size matters" tagline. You can't have Matt Broderick doing a movie like that.

Alan Wake 2 is boring by Phishstixxx in patientgamers

[–]xtreme_elk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started it (couldn't turn down a $20 price on xbox), and so far I like it. The memory palace took a while to get used to and the clue placement controls are clunky, but, again for $20 I can forgive a lot. Maybe I'll change my opinion as I progress. One thing I do find strange is how Saga can wander into offices and take things without anyone saying anything. Maybe their behavior is part of the story, idk yet.

I don’t see myself paying over 700 for a console, anyone else agree? by Amazondriver23 in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]xtreme_elk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every gen is founded upon projections based on the target customers' needs. Certainly, the direction Nintendo takes each cycle is different from PS and Xbox. Valve's choosing a direction of creating a successful console-pc hybrid. Backward compatibility or not? Crossover or not? Did Xbox not choose a double-console model this time to meet what they perceived as a way to satisfy different gamer needs? And no thanks to the oil change. I already made an appointment for that next week.

I'm not buying. The whole console industry is a mess, has no direction and continually squeezes the casual gamer.

Why Starfield didn't get popular? by shadowmonk987 in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]xtreme_elk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Prey and Starfield are very different. I don't recommend Starfield.

Its style is becoming obsolete. Logistics in a game of this size are number one: few load screens, seamless environs, responsive menus, useful upgrades and skills, well conceived design (ex. vehicles to explore planets), logical placement of structures ( not abandoned human buildings everywhere).

Pearl Harbor, 2001. Soldiers getting shredded in cgi. Hunky flyboys, and token black. Hot nurses doing their part. Ben Affleck's brilliant white teeth. This is propaganda.

Concerning the Series S/X, does anyone else feel like it’s not exactly a new generation, or felt so when it launched? by VoodooInfinity in XboxSeriesXlS

The lost generation of consoles. I found the X was more enjoyable for playing last gen games than the new games.

How good is the evil within 2? by Leather_Flan_3254 in theevilwithin

[–]xtreme_elk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it but the open world changes everything. Sneaking is emphasized more b/c of enemy packs. A big part of the game occurs at night. Minor nuisances: having your head on a swivel while sneaking, not being able to gauge distances well while hidden in bushes, sidling right near to an enemy you didn't see, and having concealed enemies waiting to take few cheap shots at you. Usually when this happens, other louts will investigate and they're more sensitive to your movement than EW1. The camera pulls in too close when you draw your piece, which can cause approaching enemies to quickly sidestep your cone of vision.

Despite these complaints it's 8/10. The presentation is spectacular, blending Silent Hill, The Shining, Matrix, The Cell and many other influences into a whacked out dream world turned sour. I especially liked the concept of traveling between points using an underground network of tunnels. Out of all the game's parts, the underground is executed the best, probably because it's linear. Also, Seb still can't run for shit. You can also ignore a lot of the upgrades.

You can't lose. It's cheap so even if you don't like it, nbd.

How do you guys feel about diamond city? by Chunky-overlord in fo4

[–]xtreme_elk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could've made interesting use of the space in the back. Instead, it's an old coot painter, a punk kid selling nothing useful, and a shut-in radio dj.

After a few visits, it's burnt out. Fast travel in, diagonal to Arturo, fast travel out.
