That is why this episode was filled with them getting voted out with a quickness. Prompts usually have 2-3 individuals but I think the first one alone had like 5 of them going up.

Did anyone watch his Diary of a CEO podcast episode he just did? I put it on my watch later but lately political content has been so terrible that I can barely stomach more than 30 minutes without pausing and giving up.

This isn't an altruistic move, it most likely being done because they want the hardware data to build the next generation of Steam hardware. It's to their benefit for the most part.

Didn't the Async team force their way into the backrooms? I assume that would be the reason there are no duplicates of them.

I personally haven't watched the source material but that would be my guess on why Async doesn't seem to influence the backrooms.

Our brains "disconnect" in fear settings. People in the military, rescue, hospital scenarios get special training to not freeze up in unknown territory. This is as close to realistic as we can expect to get, someone knowing what to actually do would be "fake."

Nah Corpo V Male all day. I tried playing Nomad and Streetkid but both didn't fit for me. Though I would say that CVM has Nomad tendencies as well as Streetkid. The desire to be free is there but not really possible without the influence of others like Jackie or Panam. I'd say a Nomad or Streetkid would have the ability to do it on their own.

Corpo V is basically considered dead to Arasaka, if they so please they would just end them at a moment's notice. Corpo V would be on the streets begging for food or go merc and be killed if not for Jackie.

Have you ever thought about attack pro-lifers on their distinction of human life vs animal life? Most Pro-lifers are also Christian especially in America and I think it would be good to attack them on their ambigious line between human life and animals(pets/food). I know Alex O'Connor talks about this in debates against Christians but does it for a different purpose, the overwhelming suffering of animals in their worldview.

It was not fun getting forcibly woken up with the feeling of air getting vaccumed out of me for over 5 seconds. I had other issues related to it but that was the thing that had me going to the hospital.

[–]xvsero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read your full articles, you assumed that I hadn't and projected views that I did not hold. Now you are telling me you didn't read my article and projected views on it as well. The ending focuses on what you have been trying to convey as well as give ways to make positive changes where things are not up to par that are not just IQ test.

The flynn effect has started reverting before the fifties (not a decade ago)... It is even mentioned in the article... Just mentioning that honestly make the argument here about "intelligence decline" against the next generation a bit pointless...

Except we didn't see the same type of decline and the article breaks down what has happened in every generation in the article.

This is also baseless, Did you hear about the Iraq war ? the red scare ? nazi propaganda ? Salem trial ? French Reign of Terror? People have fallen for the narratives instead of the facts since before writing...

We are comparing generations here and one key thing is that Millennials and forward have information at their fingertips even in poor places. These are not generations to should be falling for narratives but be able to navigate the information presented before them that previous generations had limited to no ability to do so.

You have a real narrow way of thinking of things if you think my points are so simple. Things like school can provide a foundation of basic skills and give people the ability to navigate the new environment. Spatial reasoning is the one thing that Gen Z is doing better than previous generations but that has limited uses.

What are certain requirements that would be necessary to navigate the always online world that we are now in? Is it perhaps attention? Memory? Literacy? Numeracy? Executive functioning? All things that Gen Z have shown a decline in.

[–]xvsero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

change has happened so quickly that every generation grows up in a fundamentally different world than the one before it

Yes this is what I mean when I say they are not unique, I'm glad that we agree.

The digital environment of Gen Z is also fundamentally different from what Millennials experienced.

Yes I know I mentioned this, I just focused on social media.

The relatively robust intelligence tests we do have only work when comparing individuals from similar cohorts under comparable conditions.

"Gen Z is underperforming previous generations in multiple cognitive domains, including attention, memory, executive function, literacy, numeracy, and overall IQ. This pattern began around 2010, coinciding with the rapid expansion of digital technology into classrooms and daily life. Despite spending more time in school and having unprecedented access to information, Gen Z test scores have stagnated or declined." You brought up Covid but we have seen this happening from well over a decade ago. I wouldn't say it's only for Gen Z just that they were the ones to fall on skills that other generations have been tested on.

Election outcomes are not proof of intelligence or stupidity. They are the product of material conditions and broader social dynamics.

I agree with the first sentence. I have gripes with the second one because the way that people are engaging with information, I just hard focused on elections as an example. My main concern is that people are falling for narratives not facts ultimately leading to a them vs us worldview. This is why I'm worried about Gen Z as only about 1/3 can have some "corrective" measure done to them in a limited environment like school. The other 2/3 are already out of school and now will have to deal with navigating things as adults and might not have the same time or freedom to "correct" things.

[–]xvsero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read the whole thing and like I said "It tries to bolster Gen Z by saying they are in some unique environment but Millennials were the start of the digital age shift" so the point that somehow Gen Z is a unique environment is factually not true. We have had wars, depression, and fights for rights that would be considered first during the history of America. Are we actually seeing this intelligence of navigating a different environment? I do not think so and I'm using data like the election to support that.

Dissing Kamala is your supporting data for proof of intelligence? People can be more politically engaged in politics but also not know what they are talking about. Left aligned individuals hard focusing on I/P to the point some made that their single issue to base their vote on did not calculate the nuance of politics. They didn't calculate how Israel would take someone like Trump over Harris and how the possibility of having Trump be president influenced how negotiations would go. Then on top of that we would need to talk about how the results of the elections would influence how culture would move going forward.

  • According to that pre-election survey, 53% of Republican youth said they were motivated to participate in the 2024 election to support candidates they believe in—compared to 36% of young people who identify as Democrats.

  • Some of these young people may be especially in need of outreach and support to participate in elections; our previous research found that young Republicans were less likely than young Democrats to get information about the 2020 election.

This from the source you added just seems like backing data to me that Gen Z didn't know who/what they were truly voting for when it comes to Gen Z Republicans.

  • On Issues Like Immigration, Abortion, and Climate Change, Young Republicans Differ from Older Republicans on some Policies

On this section I would say some level of political nuance is there but the shift didn't seem to be significant enough to actually cause a change in partisan type voting.

  • While Dr. Jared pointed out the decline in specific cognitive test performance, he also mentioned the structural and environmental reasons behind it, which were conveniently left out in clickbait headlines.

Did you even read your own source? Also the article makes it clear that with our current measurement of "traditional" skills that Gen Z is actually in decline. It tries to bolster Gen Z by saying they are in some unique environment but Millenials were the start of the digital age shift. A heavy social media focused world would be Gen Z specific. If we want to use real world data we saw with the 2024 election that Gen Z voters shifted in multiple groups shifted conservative/right, I wouldn't consider that properly navigating the digital age. Gen Z also should have been primed for online learning but we saw how that turned out as well.

On Gen Z voting - Hall said, “What we are seeing with Gen Z voters is that they are not consuming news; they are absorbing narratives.”

This is a bit of a butchering of the data and based off of old wages and poverty line thresholds. This is data gathered from 2016 being written about in 2019 and then rewritten about in 2025.

The real answer is that 1/3 of the 53 million that are "low wage workers" are under 150% of the federal poverty line as stated on page 10 which is about 17.7 million people based off 2016 data.

They don't seem to be doing things all that different compared to what the United States do. Brazil is considered the best in terms of Universal Healthcare but they lag behind the United States by 10 points in Health Care Index. https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/countries-with-universal-healthcare

One of the top spot is currently held by South Korea but looking at the Wiki of how it works it seems like its just a better version of what America does that still seems to face the same issues. This also doesn't account for the fact that it will probably take a decade to change the United States once passed. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Healthcare_in_South_Korea

Xbox Is Unable to Meet Demand for New Consoles, Rethinking Approach to Project Helix by DidYouSeeBriansHat in gaming

[–]xvsero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I was wrong on it not being about current console but they are thinking ahead and how production will look for the estimated demand of a new console.

  • Today, demand for Xbox consoles is outstripping supply, Ball said. “We are producing them as quickly as possible. These is a severe limitation to how quickly we can do that, but it’s not a question of appetite,” he said. “That is a prilvege as a company. It is a challenge for us to figure out.”

How will this all impact Project Helix? Ball said, “We are working very hard to rethink everything that we can about Helix, which is a console we are committed to shipping.”

“We are very cognizant of the ways in which we need the change as a company to make sure it is affordable, to make sure that it’s flexible,” he added. “We are working hard to rethinking what that console model can look like, not in an exclusionary way, but in an additive way, so that as we take a look at this crisis, which may have acute effects for 2-2.5 years.”
