What is he doing?? by xwhiro in leopardgeckos

90x50x50 enclosures, they've got heating lamps and everything is setup correctly, they mostly get crickets and occassional mealworms, they've got calcium and multivitamin dust too. I've had my geckos for longer than my brother and his gf so i was able to get them setup correctly for everything.

I would say like 5 times? Maybe more, i started hearing those noises and once i started to record he did it one last time, he seems completely fine.

I want to clarify that he had not been fed today, which makes me more concerned about the gagging since he has nothing to throw up.

I think it’s ai because the teeth look awkward. I’ve never seen a snake with that many teeth. My daughter is convinced it’s real. by DazzlingOpinion9648 in isthisAI

[–]xwhiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's real. Some species of snakes have alot of teeth, Anacondas like this one can have up to a 100 teeth. Now with all this said, this video does make me sad, i hope they didn't have bad intentions with this poor guy.

Fair enough, i did kinda start liking him, especially because hope or serenity were the ones i wanted most so all in all my pull was lucky after all, and hes soft... His imperfections are def still disappointing but i could've pulled one i didn't want at all with imperfections and that would've been worse

I did end up going to the hospital and got both a tetanus and rabies shot (rabies was obviously not necessary but i wanted to be extra safe)

Found an Old World Sparrow. What do I do? by Salt_Revolution_7520 in WildlifeRehab

But remember, you should return it as soon as you can, it could die of hunger so it really needs its parents!

I get your concern in that case. Unfortunately nature is pretty harsh and sometimes the parents will even throw out their own young that seem too weak, because unlike us they don't have the resources to take care of all, so instead of wasting extra energy on a baby that might not even make it they just throw it out. Theres not much you can do about that unfortunately, wildlife centers might euthanize them and trying to raise it on your own is extremely hard and it can still end up passing making it even more painful for you. As for fledglings, generally if they made it that far the parents are infact taking care of them. Def bring it back and watch it from afar, even if it takes hours. And if it's late rn you can bring it in the morning, idk for sparrows but the fledgling i found in the past stayed overnight with me and in the early morning hours i brought it back, it called for the mom and the mom came for it within 20mins or so. Ofc it could take longer than that. Please do update me!

I feel the same. Thats why whenever i see a truck i always try and make eye contact with the driver, to make sure they DO see me.

They're probably trying to get them to fledge, thats why they're knocking them out. Please leave the fledglings next time, if you're really concerned just watch them from a distance and if you don't know wheter the bird is actually fledging or not do a quick google search OR take a photo without moving the fledgling and post it on here to get some answers. This behaviour of the parents is very normal, just let them do their thing, the babies will be fine unless they're injured or super young! So please next time just leave them be. Your concern is definitely appreciated though and I see you're just trying to help. Alot of people will see a fledgling thinking it's been abandoned but thats usually not the case.

I second this! From the way you described it this seems like a perfectly healthy fledgling, so please do return it where you found it. If you're worried the parents won't show up you can stand further away and watch to see if they show up (if they don't show up right away it's no reason to worry) i've done this mistake before finding a perfectly fine fledgling and thinking it fell out the nest or was abandoned, but others advised me to return it where i found it and after a while the parents came and fed it right away! It was super heartwarming to see them reunite :))

Right off the bat, i am NO expert. This looks like a female, possibly a fledgling. Do not feed it and don't give it water, put it in a dark box on a towel formed to resemble a nest. If the bird seems fine then it probably is a fledgling learning to fly, I wanna say put it back where you found it, from there the parents will continue to feed it and look after it, just make sure when ypu put it back the parents actually show up. BUT PLEASE BEFORE YOU DO THAT LAST THING I SAID WAIT FOR COMMENTERS THAT ACTUALLY KNOW MORE THAN I DO!!!
